So a friend and I were driving home from college and we pull up to a light and a bunch of guys in a truck pulled up next to us. We got onto the highway and after about 2 miles the same truck pulls up behind me and starts tailgaiting me very closely . So i tried switching lanes but they follwed and i tried to pull onto the shoulder and they followed. I decided to speed up to try to get away which I did because they took an exit and there was the cop about half a mile in front of me. Pulled me over for 86 in a 55 and a $290 ticket.

 

That sucks! Where in MD was this so i can be on the lookout also!

That sucks, seems like the provokers should have got the ticket. Did you go to traffic school yet? Or are you eligible? If so, I've done traffic school online for myself and also for my wife. seriously.. i hate those people who tailgate real close for no reason.

 

i would of wrote their plates down. and slammed on the breaks and if they try to run you have their plates if there is no plates on the car pull to the sholder and wait if they pull behind you and stop call 911 or if your like me and carry a bat in your car get out and have a little fun. make sure they dont have a gun.

yea, they should be pretty lenient if you haven't gotten any violations in 3 years.
or if you want to play it safe call a ticket clinic. $60 and they'll take care of it

 

I think I would do the same thing. Just speed away and lose them. Had a bad experience when I was in High School. Some redneck punks were tailgating and when I slowed to pull over they hit me. I stop and they stopped behind me. Then they tried to jump me. I floored it and took off. Could of turned out ugly as I was outnumbered.

Take it to court and tell your story. But they don't give a rats **** anyway but worth a shot. Damn courts.

Let off the gas, do not hit the brakes (not worth getting hit and dealing with all the insurance hassles), and just coast until they go around you. If you coast all the way down to 30mph on the freeway and they still don't get bored and drive off, then you might have a more serious problem. Hit the gas. Hard. Since you live in MD, I believe radar detectors are illegal, so make sure you have a radar detector and of course a radar detector detector detector.
