After 3 trips to the dealership and a total of over 100 test miles on 3 different TL's, I think it's safe to say I've spent my fair share of time in the TL (at least for someone who did not buy the car). The target market of the TL was BMW. Acura's own press releases have directly compared the TL in performance AND styling to BMW, sorry if you disagree or don't see the similarities, but I'm stating fact. Have you seen the 18" wheels the TL offers. They are almost IDENTICAL to the 18" wheels on the M3. The 3 series has a "line" or "crease" running down the side of the car, so does the TL. The rear lip (spoiler) is almost identical on both cars, and both cars come w/ the spoiler delete option.

Oh yeah, in the CON's list above, the leather seats have problems w/ premature wear and they even sag to the shape of your butt after ~2 weeks.

If you still disagree that's fine, but I'm ending any statements on this topic after this post. Anyone who reads my ranting can go test drive and read up on the TL and make their own decisions. I'm just pointing out some of the things I noticed that influenced me in purchasing my car.

Let me throw a wrench in to this one...lol:

I'm a G35 Coupe driver, but the dealership I work for handles both Acuras and Infinitis (on the sales team, we're responsible for selling both product lines and being certfied in both)...Having spent considerable time in the TL, I have come to admire it from an engineering and build perspective. The performance isn't too shabby either. I'd be VERY comfortable putting my mom and dad in one....

On the other hand...the TL doesn't come close to the Coupe in terms of performance bang for the buck. The Infiniti powertrain has NO equal in this price range...and living in Louisiana, I drive in the slick, rainy, nasty all the time...and the Infiniti VDC has the Acura VSA all beat...

I test drove the TL a couple of weeks ago, and to be honest, I wasn't as impressed with the car as I thought I would be. The interior is nice, but I don't think the quality of materials is any better than the G35. As a matter of fact, the seats are the same perforated leather that are in the G35. The dash is laid out better in the TL, and the technology is more advanced. The stereo and nav are better than the G35, and the TL has bluetooth technology which the G35 lacks. The thing that disappointed me about the TL, though, was the way it drove. It didn't seem as fast as the G35, I could feel the torque steer, the steering felt mushy and unresponsive, and I felt really isolated from the road. The ride was smooth, but I didn't feel like I had control over the car that I feel when I drive the G35. To me, the TL isn't a driver's car at all. It's an excellent touring car, and if your looking for a quiet, comfortable freeway cruiser, then go for it. But if your looking for a car that you will enjoy driving, then get the g35.
