Exhaust Questions

Hi,

I dont own a G35 coupe, but I do love that sound that comes from the stock exhaust. This is also the same sound on the 350Z and Infini FX35/45's.

My question is...does that sound come from the motor or is that the acutal exhaust?

I have an 07 Murano with similar motor, maybe tweaked differently, but want that sound on my Murano. I am willing to buy someone's stock exhaust as there are ton on this forum but want to make sure that the sound is coming from the exhaust or atleast from the cat back.

Your help is appreciated. Plus if you are selling your stock exhaust let me know how much.

Thanks

Correct me if im wrong guys. I noticed that the end tips on the Murano are a lot smaller than the tips of a g35C, 350z and fx35/45. So im guessing it is the actual exhaust system.

I'm not completely certain but I think its mostly motor. But I'm sure the exhaust itself plays a big role in the specific tone you are speaking of.

Arent the motors similar on the G35 coupe, 350Z and FX35 with the Murano? Maybe tweaked differently?

I think it is a combination, but I believe that the Murano mid pipe or exhaust or somewhere in that line is restricting the sound. Similar to an aftermarket exhaust. The 3 vehicles above all sound the same and hence my thinking is leaning more towards teh exhaust.

I love that sound the cars listed above makes and want that on my Murano. Any other clarification or help would be great.

Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure alot of the tone of the exhaust has to do with the vastly different exhaust manifolds. The FM platforms have tubular steel exhaust manifolds that resemble aftermarket headers to a certain degree while the FF-L and the A33 body styles have cast iron exhaust manifolds.

I would check out some video's on streetfire.net on 3.5 VQ Maxima's with Cattman equal-length exhaust headers. It sounds alot nicer than the tone on a stock FM platform engine.

After few discussions here is it safe to say that if I was to put i.e. G35 coupe exhaust I would get the sound considering the look will be similar?
