question about the dealer motor oil
question about the dealer motor oil
hey guys,
so i went to the dealers today to get an oil change.
and... it says the oil they used is "MOTOR OIL - G35OIL". is that synthetic or conventional?
i've been using mobil1 synthetic for ~10k miles, and if the dealer's oil isn't synthetic, is that bad?
thanks in advance for the help

Every dealer has what ever oil their local vendor gives them the best deal on...
It may be Castrol, Mobil, or some no name brand... you really dont know unless you ask them directly...
The Standard Oil which they keep in tanks and comes from the overhead when working on the car is usually not a synthetic... At best a synthetic blend...
Unless you request synthetic a dealer does NOT put in synthetic... (for INFINITI / NISSAN that is)...

ah, i see. thanks
so if it's not synthethic, and if i've been using synthetic for the previous 10k miles, is it bad for the car? do i have to do another oil change?

its not "bad" for the car, but it is ideal to stay synthetic once you go... Just for your next oil change go synthetic again...
You can always bring your own oil / filters to a dealer to have them do the change... they will just charge you the labor alone for the oil change... you can save a little $ this way too, especially if you buy filters in bulk and store them...
