Headlight theft

Are we G35c owners also subject to the recent increase of headlight theft? My wifes Audi is a known target for HID theft, and I know the maxima is another frequent victim...Anyone heard of this happening to us?

Re: Headlight theft

From what I've read, both of those cars are easy to get to the HID. Ours is a pain in the ***, to even change a bulb. Now a pro thief might be able to do this easy, but like most of us you have to removed bolts and screws to even change a bulbs. Taking the whole unit would be even harder. I don't thing G35's have to worry too much!

Re: Headlight theft

The other point that was brought up recently was that HIDs aren't an option, they're standard. That makes the market for them pretty low. No market, not much interest in stealing them.

Re: Headlight theft

Just because they're standard doesn't mean there's no market for them. They are standard on the TL as well, but were often targets. (At least until thiefs realized that they are easier to steal from 02-03' Maximas.) They usually go on e-bay, so some guy with a civic can upgrade their car. But yes, they are a pain to steal from a G35.

Re: Headlight theft

They do and will steal them around New Jersey if they get the chance.....
My dealership got hit about a year ago for almost 9cars....
both I35's and G's they just pryed out the headlights doing damage to the fender, hood and of course headlights.
My co-worker had his maxima hit two times where we work..
cost him $3500 each time...second time they broke the grille
so its a reality around here....buyer beware!!! 2old4this

Re: Headlight theft

If they are stealing them like that, then any car w/ HID is a risk. The Audi's would make a great steal, their HID units all together. You could steal anything smash and grab!

Re: Headlight theft

if they are in a location where they can wield a crowbar on your car without fear of being seen or heard, they will get them.
