Loud engine noise...help!

oK, I don't drive my car on the weekdays because of work but I drive Friday, Saturday and Sunday when I can. Every Friday I've started my car, it makes this really squeaky sound. it sounds like the belt or something but it's really loud. I would never expect this on a "luxury" brand like Infinity. I've had nissan's, honda's and acura's and no problems. I currently have a 1995 acura integra with 200,000 miles and it never made one single noise.

is this normal? if it is, i'm highly disappointed. the car is a 2006 6MT coupe with only 14,500 miles.

I have to bring it to the dealer and this is one of the things i have to add, I already have:
1. CD suck in the player
2. oil consumption test
3. clicking on the rear
4. now this really loud irritating noise that would go away after 5 minutes of start up.

I've never had any problems with any of my cars until this baby came around.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a belt issue, what part of the country do you live in? If they are cold you will hear a bit of squeking but 5 miniutes?.... hmmmmm....

They could be a little loose as well, you could try to tighten the tensioner pulley a bit which would help in that case. Did you buy the car new or used? Check the condition of the belts as well to make sure they are not cracked or worn looking.

I'm in NY. Yea the car gets cold and I don't use it but on weekends. Anyhow, the noise is really loud and why for so long?...I've never had anything like it before. What would happen if the temperature is even lower? I don't know but I'm calling to make an appointment on the issues i listed above.

thanks for your input.

If the belt is loose, it will screech. It doesn't matter if you drive an Infiniti, Mercedes, Lexus, Bentley, Honda, or Kia. A loose belt will screech. Once the belt and motor heat up, everything will tighten up. Us Vortech owners are very familiar with the belt tensioner, so it's easily apparent to us what the problem is. Just tell the dealer your belts are loose, or do it yourself...very easy.

Thanks, I'll tighten it and see if it does it again once I start her up this coming weekend.

If you belt was loose enough to squeal for a whole 5 minutes, it probably needs to be replaced too. You would have worn down the part of the belt where the squealing was happening.
