Trading in G's for another at a dealer

Has anyone here traded in a G for a newer G? I have an 04 G auto, and was thinking about switching it for a manual(maybe) and thought might as well get a newer year too.. Maybe an 05. I think I've seen some people here do it but I don't know why a dealer would do that, I don't see how they make money doing it. You pay more but it's a newer car which is worth more $$. Anyone know the catch to this or w/e? Thanks

You're not going to get much for your car from a dealer, then they are going to overcharge you for a newer used G that they also jewed the person before on that sold it to them.

In the end they make quite a bit of money doing this.

I would go private party. I'm not sure an 04G coupe would go for at a dealership.

I was looking to do this also. They were offering me a terriable trade in price, and they wanted a premium for the used 06 I wanted to buy. Either way, your going to be spending a bit of money.

I was contemplating trading in my 04 5AT for a 6MT. The dealer at the time was trying to rape me.....all said and done, it would have cost me close to $9,000 to step out of my car and into a 05 6MT with Nav.

Needless to say I still drive my 04 5AT <8o)

Damn.. looks like I'll have to do this private if I want to do it. Prob is unless I find a seller and buyer at the same time, I won't have a car for an undetermined amount of time.. =/

yeah when i sold my 2003 5AT sedan with 90k miles to the dealership they wanted to give me $9k for it so i basically said i know its worth more then that and eventually talked them into $12,550. I looked on autotrader and they were selling for $15-18k. Mine was also in mint condition too. The only reason I sold it to them was because I didn't feel comfortable selling a car myself. I also got a good deal on an '06 6MT coupe loaded without nav with 12k miles that they were selling for $27k.

Did you also go to Holman Infiniti, I was not too happy with the way they run things there!
