Got a sedan loner car because of tranny.

Today I went to my dealership and they are replacing my transmission free of charge. The syncros in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear make a griding sound. They gave me a white g35 Sedan loner car, automatic. I have to say I am very impressed with it's performance. These things handle and move very well. Props to all sedan owners but I still love my coupe more!

Thanks - Joey Avino

I have to agree..the G sedan is a real stormer....
I would like to drive a 6MT....I bet it runs like a top....
Before they released the coupe I had planned to buy
the sedan.....either way I wouldn't of been unhappy!!!
Got to still go with my coupe...hmmmmmm. LOVE IT!!!!

Joey, when does it make a grinding sound? When you are actually in gear? Do you have 6MT or Auto?

My car makes a shaking/rattling sound after I drive it for 45+ min. When the stick is in neutral it sounds like something is loose and rattling around. When I press the clutch in the sound goes away. The dealer said this was normal.

No when I shift into the gear. It's the syncro when the gears connect it's not working properly. You have a different problem sir

The sedan is no joke. Everytime I take my coupe in for service I specifically request a 35 Sedan, not the I35. The sedan feels faster than my coupe...and definitely rides smoother than my coupe. I can't front that I really enjoy that car when I have it from the dealer.

The sedan is certainly no joke. Look a this grah. It's screen capture of the Gtech PASS program from my GtehPro Competition accelerometer. The MT's do have a higher ratio gears, but there is a lot of time lost in shifting.

I know, I know - this is mostly an AT vs. MT argument. I am not trying to stir up a controversy. But this goes to demonstrate what Malx is experiencing with respect to an AT sedan vs. an MT coupe. The graph is a little misleading. The green curve is a bone stock MT sedan (2 people in the car), the black is a bone stock AT sedan loaner, while the red is my car (with the bad T/C ).

It's all probably because the sedan is lighter.

Appreciate the comments from the coupe guys regarding the sedan. I drive the sedan because I need the back seat room, but love the looks of the coupe. Hope all turns out well with your tranny repair.

Re: Got a sedan loner car because of tranny.

if had one friend or one girlfriend than i would choose the coupe because it simply looks much better. i wouldnt be surprised if the G35 sedan outperformed the coupe on the corners/ because it might be more structorly rigid. they say that about the e36 M3 sedan.

malx

It's not becuase it's lighter. The traces are for MT sedan vs. AT sedan.
