So I consider myself pretty mechanically inclined, did pretty much all the work on my car myself. Now comes something I haven't done before and I find it a bit daunting. My rear wheel bearings need replacing. I have the parts on order, and they should be arriving mid next week. Two rear wheel bearings, two new hubs, and two grease seals. This requires a press to install which I don't have and German doesn't have at GS Motorsports.

Should I find a shop w/ a press to do the install or should I take it to the dealership? Book time according to All Data says it's about 4.6 hours to replace both. I'd assume around $80/hour at the dealership so about $400 in labor.

 

if i felt that (1) i could know how to use the press properly (2) i had the time/space (3) i definitely had the tools needed (4) thought i could handle all the steps required... then YES i definitely would. sure its easier to take the car to the dealer but id rather do it myself if possible. and thats assuming cost is a non-issue....
