This is really aggravating me. When I got my 03' there wasn't any budging on the sticker, I read $300 discounts on here and those were considered victories. Why is it now that the 04's are getting $2k+ discounts?

Some people here are getting their G's lower than what I still have left to pay after 6 months.

maybe because my dealer had a 2 month wait 6 months ago, now they have many of them sitting in a temporary overflow lot Its a small dealer that didnt get many last year, now they dont know where to put them all.

When did you get your '03's? When I posted a while back (Sept.)people wanted to fight when I said I was offered 2000.00 off on a '03. I turned them down and waited.

Could it be due to Economics 101 ? Back in college, I heard of this supply and demand curve. Something about the intersection of these two items determined the price.

How dare Nissan produce enough cars such that there is more supply today than demand !! I'm gonna sue. They act like they're in the business to sell cars.

Like Cheever mentioned in his economics class, supply and demand is the answer. Although demand for this car is still relatively high, Nissan made sure they had plenty of supply to meet that demand.

The production numbers tell the story...

Winter = low sales = increased inventories = discounts. It will be interesting to see if the dealers are still discounting coupes as deeply as they are now when sales picks up in the spring. I imagine discounts will be better than they were in 2003, but once they clear their lots of the cars they've been accumulating all winter, they may be less willing to deal.

Cheever your sarcastic response was almost funny.....almost...but not quite. Being a graduate of a business school, and working in real estate....i think your the last person I need supply and demand lessons from.

I bought my G in august. It has a manafacturing date of June 03 on it so I'm thinking it was one of the last ones made. I paid sticker....oh well. I guess paying sticker on a 03 means I helped build the Band Wagon. Ride on boys....

Without trying to sound like a jerk, I don't feel sorry for any of you that paid sticker for your coupe. It was your choice to pay full MSRP. And if anything, you helped make it tougher for those who refused to pay MSRP to get a discount. It's a viscious cycle, I guess.

BTW, my 6mt coupe is due in 3 to 4 weeks and I'll be getting it for invoice price, which is about $3500 off sticker. I'm only getting that deal because I have a "contact" at that dealership though, so I'm sure not everyone can get the same deal. But I would absolutely refuse to pay MSRP anyway though... even on a car as good as the G35c.

Jan 03 I paid MSRP plus $250 dealer fee. I wanted the car, there was one on the way with the options I wanted, so I put down a deposit. I wasn't willing to wait a year or so for a discount .Besides, the psychic benefit of riding around in style for over a year is worth a couple thousand extra bucks. And I'm still riding happy.

I was just messing with you. I think everyone knows that it's a simple supply and demand question. They even teach this stuff at the 3rd tier state college I graduated from.

Just think of the extra few thousand you spent is the premium you pay for being first on the block with the new toy.

I, on the other hand, refuse to pay MSRP for a car. So, I had to wait until now. Only two more weeks until my car arrives.

Re: Why does it seem theres more discounting on 04
I bought my G in Jan 04 and my dealer wouldn't budge on the price of the G I ended up buying. This is the first new car out of 6 previous ones that I have ever payed full MRSP on, On average I would say I payed about $700 over dealer invoice on all my previous new cars. Maybe I was stupid but they had the car that I wanted on the lot at the time I was looking so I gritted my teeth and payed full price for it. Never regretted the decision because I love this car.

Let me add some insult to injury. Not only did you pay full list six months ago, but you've also taken a huge depreciation hit during that time compared to someone who is buying the same car today. Imagine, you could now have had a car with zero miles had you waited six months! Of course, you wouldn't have been able to enjoy the car during that time, but, I suppose for some, that's besides the point. BTW, if you really want to get the car cheap, wait until just before the next generation arrives in the fall of '07, because that's when the dealers will really be willing to deal on left-over '06 Gs. But then, you'll be stuck with an old generation model. Life's a b*t*ch.

Haha, you guys remind me of the following dialogue from a Seinfeld episode:

In reply to:

George, seeing Jerry with a small black device: "What's that?"

Jerry: "It's a Wizard electronic organizer for my dad. I'm goin' to Florida
for his birthday."

George: "How much was it?"

Jerry: "Two hundred. But I'll tell him it's fifty. He doesn't care about the
gift. He gets excited about the deal."

George: "Where are you gettin' a Wizard for fifty dollars?"

Jerry: "Ah, I'll tell him I got it on the street, and maybe it's hot. That's
his favorite."

Yah but having an 03' means nothing now, im thinking about swapping my BMWBTR plate for a OG03 plate....ahhh well. Everyone enjoy your G's.

BTW: I realized the hit I would take on the depreciation, even my dealer warned me all i had to wait was till november....ahh well had to have it. Shes purring outside right now warming up....gotta go!
