Sedan Vs Coupe.

Looks like your going for, the quickest luxo car you can.

Well I doubt you can find any left over s4's.
I would go coupe. Not because im biased, but because the s4 has a lag thats like the auto G.

You will be tempted up upgrade the turbo in the s4 because its so easy too, and that leads to issues, such as blown turbo;s and what not.

The only good side to the s4, is that, its the best s4 built in my opinion.

too bad they dont make S4's anymore until later this year.....now they dropped into it their 4.2 V8 with quatro...and changed the body style to match how the A4's look now...look for it soon at your dealership
good luck, you cant go wrong with either car.....although i think the new S4 will cost alot more than the G (big V8+AWD)

Drop a $1K chip into an S4 and you're over 300 hp, and it's goodby to any G35, especially with quattro. If you're looking for straight out performance, the S4 is a demon, and hard to beat. But it's body style is aging and is not as sexy as the G. Probably a little harder ot resell too.

But, the S4 is a blast to drive.....and to suprise the hell out of people with.

Re: S4 Vrs G35 C

The handling of the s4 vs. g35c wasn't all that to me. Unless your pushing both cars to the handling limit maybe the quattro will dominate. The dealer that let me test drive the 2002 s4 was coaching me on where to punch it in the apex's and really let me beat the car. The g35c rear wheel drive seem just as good to me. you do have the freedom to let the rear loose easier with the g35. In all though for street driving they both handle nicely with a little more manuverability in the G35. The s4 just seemed like a tank, you don't feel the power till the biturbo kicks in.

Of course quattro is nice for people living in snow. I waited 2 years for the new s4 to come out and it didn't arrive for 2003.

The turbos spooling up was very nice and 5th and 6th gears seem useless since 4th gear already gets you past 100 with ease.

One thing for sure, Nissan/Infiniti has a lot nicer interior. I hope the 2004 s4 has nicer pleather and interior design. The steering wheel and rectangular sections in the seat just don't look so nice.

Re: S4 Vrs G35 C

I own a new 6MT and have a good friend who's the original owner of a '01 S4 w/ chip, upgraded exhaust, wheels/tires. He smokes me straight line, corners, anywhere he wants. I've put over 500 miles on his car over the last 2 years and think it's an incredible 4dr sport sedan, albeit small backseat.
I think the G35C looks better but the S4 is a real sleeper.
As for the interior, that's an Audi strong point and I could never get tired looking at that cockpit/dash.

For me I already have a 4dr sports sedan (SHO) and a minivan for the wife/kids so a coupe was ideal. If I didn't own the sedan I'd have bought a used '02 S4 over the G35C.

Either way you can't go wrong!

Re: S4 Vrs G35 C

They are both great cars. I test drove both before I bought my G35. The S4 is a perfect sleeper and rides better than the G in daily driving I would gather. That's why it needs AWD because it's a tank indeed. Fit and finish of the S4 is also great. My disagreement is with the price. I test drove a used 02' S4 (48k mi) with almost all the same stuff on it as my G. Yet they wanted almost 35k for it! It's a pricey vehicle not an exceptional value like the G. I am quite familiar with Audi's line of cars as my good friend is part of the Audi club for So Cal and I go along with him quite a bit. With new S4 coming soon you will be no where near the price of the G35, especially with comparable options. Your looking at almost 50k for it. You just can't beat the fit and finish of the G which I would say is second only to the Audi for the price you pay. The are both exceptional cars though an it was hard for me to choose. My next new car will most likely be the new style '04 S4. Or maybe in my dreams the new Audi RS6, now there is a freakin monster from gasoline hell! Good luck car shopping.
