My G saved three lives today....

Sup everyone...I just wanted to let you know all you guys and gals who own a G should appreciate their car even more after my story. Around 1:30am, I was heading home from frisco on 101 south when a truck had spun out to hit the side railing and ended up on the second to the last lane (fast lane). When I saw it, I had only a split second to turn and I did only enough for me to clip my side. I spun out instantly and ended up at the bushes. Both of my friends and I walked out of the car with only scratches and bruises. We are all very lucky to be alive....as I write this, i'm still very shaken up by this whole thing...but i'm very glad that i bought this G four months ago cuz if i was still in my prelude, i wouldn't think i'll be here tonite writing this......

I'll write more about this tomorrow.....be safe out there everyone and be glad u'll be safe in a G......

Wow. Pretty impressive that you can see the big picture after something like that. A lot of people would be pissed they wrecked their G but in a way you're happy about it. Very optimistic view on it. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

Good to hear you are ok. Did the airbags go off? Maybe when the shock wears off you can give us some more detail.

This is why we pay out the nose to insure these cars. Insurance will make sure you get your G back in good working order. Insurance will never bring back a friend.

I have to say that your optimism is refreshing. My GF totaled her car 2 weeks ago. She kept going on and on about how she almost killed 3 of her friends. I kept telling her that she SAVED THOSE PEOPLE, it was her driving that kept them all alive. It took her a few days, but she came around to it.

I'm glad you're ok. It's not a good story if you dont live to talk about it.

Re: My G saved three lives today....

Thank you for all the responses everyone! It's great to know peeps on this forum cares about other members....we are like family. =) Anyways, my first post was sorta vague on the details cuz I had just got into an accident and was pretty much shocked by the whole thing. After several days of rest and much calls from my insurance and CHP, the whole situation sits freshly in my mind....so I'm gonna share it with you all....

After clubbin on Friday nite at the Rouge, my friends and I started our journey back home at around 1:30 on the 101S going towards san jose. When we got to redwood city, an accident involving a jeep cherokee and an old 60's chevy truck has just taken place, probably like minutes before I got to that location. From what the police said, the guy in the chevy truck fell asleep behind the wheel and his truck ended up hitting the right guardrail, then richocheted back towards the center divider. I think during this time, the jeep cherokee slammed into the chevy truck ejecting the driver out onto the freeway. The truck came to a stop and remained stationary covering the fast lane and the lane right next to it which I was driving on. Since there were NO freeway lights, I couldn't see a thing on the road until my headlights shined on it...but by then, it was way too late for me to avoid it and my only reaction was to pull the wheel to the right and not hit the truck head on. My car ended up hitting the truck with most of the impact on my side and spun out probably once or twice before ending up on the right shoulder in the bushes. Good thing I ended up there because there were other cars following me in which they ended up hitting the truck also. For the not so lucky drivers, they ended up running over the guy that was laying on the road. He died instantly on the scene. My two friends and I were lucky enough to walk out of the car with just minor cuts and bruises. I had some glass and airbag powder in my eyes, so I went to the hospital to have it flushed and examined just in case any other particles got stuck in my eyes. The doctors diagnosis was that both pupils were scratched with the left eye being more severe. Right now, my left eye is a little blurry, but it should heal after using the antibiotics the docs has given me.

As for the G, only my driver side curtain bag deployed. You could see pics of my broken G in the link below. The damages are great in the front, including structural damage. I'm hoping the insurance will total my car so I could get a new G to play with...but my friend gave a good point that my insurance might not total it due to the cost of the car. We'll see i guess.... For the time being, I'm not gonna worry about the car too much. Whatever happens, I still gonna have a car no matter what. I just want my eyes to heal so I can be healthy again....

Re: My G saved three lives today....

After looking at those pics I'd have a hard time saying that your car isn't totalled. You will definitely have structural damage to the frame. Since the damage affected so many parts of the car (engine, crushed wheel well and suspension, hood, bumper, all the left side, windshield, etc) I don't think the car could be repaired and be anything close to what it was. I would push hard on the agent that this car will not be safe after much structural damage. Baitfish on the FreshAlloy forum had a similar mishap and he was successful in getting his totalled.

Bottom line is you really are lucky as are your friends. High speed accidents can so easily turn ugly as the Jeep driver found out (why the hell wouldn't a guy in a jeep be wearing a seatbelt!!). Take it easy and things will turn out ok. Glad you are safe and sound.

Re: My G saved three lives today....

Im glad to hear you and your friends are okay. Thank god for that.

As for the pics of your G I would definitely try to convey to your agent that that car needs to be totalled as it wont be safe after that type of damage is sustained on a high performance vehicle like this. That is if he doesnt try to be a cheapo and say it can be fixed. Which by the looks of those pics I doubt he would try to do.
