if you went from winged to wingless i need your help with 3rd brake light

Sorry for the long title, I've spent a few hours searching and havent found the answer im looking for really...i dunno maybe im just looking for someone to tell me something easier than what I fear.

Im going to be swapping out my winged trunk for a wingless one soon. Removing the trunk looks easy enough but it appears I may be facing harder times when it comes to switching from no interior third brake light to having one.

Searching has told me that the car comes pre-wired for both, but it looks like according to the FSM, that I will have to pretty much dismantle the whole rear interior to get to the rear deck lid of both cars to switch them out so that I have the 3rd brake light setup and the other person wont have a gapping hole in theirs.

I know I could just go without one, but I would prefer to have one and not attract local PD attention over a 3rd brake light.

I was hoping it was easier, but the FSM shows the rear panel to be one piece as opposed to being seperate from the interior trunk trim behind the seats. It litterally requires almost every panel from the B-pillars back to come out plus seats which is crazy to me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Mine came with the wing brake light and the third brake light. I disconnected my 3rd brake light and left the wing light on. Im assuming this is in the ballpark of your question. If so, go to the back seat, squeeze the brake light cover on both sides applying equal pressure and pull out. You should see two wire harnesses. Plug them and place the cover the same way you removed it. It's quite simple and should take you no more the 5 min if your slow. Hopefully, that answered your question.

my car came from the factory with the rear wing so that means it has no intertior mounted third brake light, this was only an issue apparently on any of the G's made previous to the 07's which came with both(searching revealed that).

I guess I'll have to get a little dirty and do the interior removal on both cars, ugh!

if i didnt work on an army base i wouldnt care and just leave it off, but they'll pull me over for anything because they're bored.
