New Bumper/Insurance ??'s

Okay, So this guy ran into the back of me the other day. Not too much visible damage but now I get to get a new rear bumper. I was planning on a Kenstyle rear end anyway. I got an estimate for $1700, but that is with an OEM replacement. What are the chances of me getting it replaced with an aftermarket bumper through this guys insurance.
Does anyone have any past experience or information with doing this. Any info before going through the process will be helpful.

Thanks

why do you wanna replace it with an aggressive aftermarket rear when the rest of the car is stock...? unless you plan on a front and sides down the road...

$1700 thats crazy... you can buy a new 0EM rear bumper for around $300 and have it painted and installed for another $300

im sure it can be done there have been a few members that have gotten an aftermarket bumper threw insurance...

$1700???? good lord. id stick with stock. if u put it through their insurance and say u r doing the work yourself they will just cut u the check for 1700 and u can have it fixed at a body shop for waaaaaaaaay less and pocket the rest. good luck

really all that bumper needs is to be sanded and repainted. It shouldnt cost but maybe $400 to fix it and repaint it.

Take the $1700 and do it yourself.

Thanks for the input guys!!

So I went and got another estimate.....

This one is for $1250. This is about 625 in parts including a reinf beam and another 625 in labor.
The first estimate is also replacing the muffler which the shop said is bent. The second estimate the shop is simply going to straighten it out for a lesser cost.

Both of these shops are stating that there may be additional damage once they take the car apart.

I really dont care how much it costs, Im not paying for it. The kicker is that even though this guy has insurance he called me today and would rather I negotiate a settlement with him. if this happens he will also need to pay for my rental car while its in the shop.

Not sure how I am going to procede. Like I said my plans were to get a body kit down the line anyway so this seemed like as good a opportunity as any....

More to come
