smoking tail lights
Re: smoking tail lights
I smoked my tailights on an older honda that i had.
you can find translucent smoke paint at most hobby shops, also remember to get a clear coat to put on last.

Re: smoking tail lights
I wouldn't recommend doing the inside of the tail lights. I wouldn't want to take a chance of not re-sealing it properly and having water leak in.
Of course doing the inside of the tail lights would prevent rock chips, but i never had a problem with that.

Re: smoking tail lights
Smoking tail lights? This forum only shows me how much I don't know. Would you mind explaining the purpose of smoking tail lights and even post some pics?

Re: smoking tail lights
rbozz, I could be wrong but I think this is what makes some of the taillights you see particularly in rice racer cars have the smoky white lenses. Kinda like what is standard on the IS300.

Generally, the purpose of smokin the lights .. in this case the taillights is to darken them up....
Take a older say 88 89 civic or crx, the taillights could be lightly sprayed with a darkening tint type film which would make them look darker directly on the light.
This stuff is like a light spray paint that sprays on and generally its "eyed" on .. meaning some spots may have more tint and essentially become darker than other spots.
I have only seen this done nicely with a small amount of tint.
The G's lights have a clear cover over them...that I dont think would really look too nice from the products available on the market now .. as the red portion of the light is very shiny and the spray on the clear cover will possibly appear blotchy or worse ... dirty..
I dunno man.. do it if you want .. but it would probably be worth it to look into real tint on the inside for full uniform type coverage over the covers ...
