My preperation for a long trip

So I decided I will drive from Florida to California in a few days. This is some of my preparation for the car. Go ahead…laugh at it. It is a lebra brand bra that i bought of ebay. I promise I will take it off when I got to cali! My car looks so ugly.

you could have used blue tape, too but the bra will work! hey, it's better than getting rock chips all over the front. drive safe and tell us how much you end up spending on gas haha

Does anybody remember the guys that drove across the country with their car completely covered w/ painters tape? It wasn't a G, can't remember what it was, but they documented it. It sounded like an awesome trip.

edit: here is a story about it, it was an S4. Looks like u have to be a member to see the original thread tho.

doesn't look that bad.. and it's better to protect it for a trip than end up with lasting chips in your bumper that can be seen every day

Blue painters tape would have been more fun!

Plus those bras can actually hurt your paint...

I was glad on a recent (shorter 1000 mile round trip) trip. 400 miles into it, I had a flat, and after finally getting my jack out of the car, I at least had a real tire to drive on.

If I had a donut spare, or even a run-flat, I would have HAD to do something before returning home. As it was, it took 3 days after getting home before my replacement tire arrived and I could have it mounted. (Road hazard paid for it).

The bra is smart. I used one as well. Make sure you wax the he11 out of it before leaving so anything that gets trapped under the bra will slide out easily. I had a few surface scuffs on the corners but they buffed right out.

Also, not a bad idea to remove it at the end of each day, shake it out, and wipe your front end down with a microfiber cloth and some warm water.

Just out of curiousity.... Why not just fly to Cali, unless you're moving there? In terms of just getting there, it would be be way cheaper to fly there instead of drive.. since you'll likely spend about $750-850 in gas to get there and back, plus the extra wear and tear on your car and the cost of that clear bra.... not to mention that the trip will take soo much longer too if you drive, and there's always the risk of getting a speeding ticket or having an accident or break-down of some sort along the way. The only way it might be cheaper to drive is if you plan on staying there for like 2 or 3 weeks and by driving there, you would have avoided the need to get a rental car at the rate of around $35-100 a day(depending on the kind of car you'd rent).

I sure hope you don't plan on living out of your car! Have a safe trip.
