Possible G Thief!

So I went to my local Meijer store on Sat night to pick up some lawn patch (stupid dogs!) and parked the car all alone under a tall parking light. I came back out to see an S-10 Extreme sitting right next to my me and a guy walking around it. I startled him when I walked up and said "Whats up, can I help you?" The trucks window rolled down and the guy inside said "You have a nice car there man" in a voice similar to the parking garage guy in Ferris Buelers Day Off. The other guy walked back to the truck and said "Yeah, nice car" and sort of laughed. They they tore out of the lot and down the road. Looked over the car and all was ok. Never know, they might have taken it had I got stuck longer in line...

Re: Possible G Theif!

lol just thinking about the guy from ferris.

I guess putting cars on flat beds is the new wave of thievery now? Are cops doing anything about this?

My cousins car was "stolen" his alarm never went off, ignition was fine, nothing cracked. Car was "found" by a tow truck company two blocks away and towed back to their office. They stripped him of his 20"s, system and body kit. Funny thing is the towing company also has a body shop and a performance parts shop.

Talk about conflicts of interest.....for my peace of mind anyways.

If anybody from Boston wants to keep all the nice toys on their car then stay away from Lansdowne st. Some of the bouncers are on the take and as soon as they see you drive by it takes them no more than two seconds to relay the info to the trucks, and when you walk by them or they check your ID its official....your rims are gone. So if your going to any clubs there make sure you park in a garage.

Re: Possible G Theif!

sixone, in response to your post about "are cops doing anything about this..."

Being in law enforcement, I think it's hard for the public to understand that we can only be one place at a time. You'd be amazed at what we actually have to put up with some of these nonsense "my kid is being rude to me" calls, which take up a good portion of the night and wastes time on serious crimes, like stealing a G35 or something. With the way the economy is, you won't see alot of cops on the road like you would if the economy was better. No one wants to pay overtime for someone to actually enforce a specific crime, like loading cars onto flatbeds, etc. It's really shitty.

Only thing we can ask is that if someone see's something to call it in. You don't understand how many "well-being" calls we go to and when we get there, the person is severely beatin or robbed, etc, and when we do neighborhood canvasses, neighbors tell us "yeah, i heard something last nite, etc" but they never called it in. Be nosey! If something seems odd, call it in, you never know!

Re: Possible G Thief!

You can't expect the police to prevent car thefts when they are busy raising money for the city by giving tickets for 10 miles over the speed limit.

I hope my city runs out of money then. Brea is like your typical life in the OC, no crime, only stupid teenagers, doing stupid things. Then, I wouldn't have to worry about cops on every corner. I always have to slow down at 7-11 and liquor stores, bcuz I know there will be a cop camped there, with a radar gun and a donut!

Re: Possible G Thief!

Here's a site that sells upgrades to factory alarms. This one has a motion detector, glass breakage and tilt alarm so if they try and tow it the alarm will go off. I had a hood lock on my old car so if they tried to pop the hood to disconnect the negative battery to turn off the alarm they couldn't without the key I had. That's always good to have and I might get it on my G. Here's the link for the alarms. http://www.autotechs.com/items/item1073.htm

Blaming cops for issuing tickets is like blaming the iceberg for sinking the Titanic.

Work to change the system, learn to live with it, or move to a country more to your liking. It's pretty easy if you think it through.
