Warranty / Maintenance Question
Warranty / Maintenance Question
Hi all,
I was considering changing my own air filter in my 2005 G35 C. I had two questions.
1) This is my first car, and I never had the option of auto shop in high school. How do I change the filter? Do you just have to unscrew some screws, pop the old filter out and the new one in? Is there a good DIY somewhere?
2) Warranty.... do I have to have this done by someone with receipts etc. for it to not void my warranty? Or would a receipt for buying a new filter be enough?
Thanks for the help!

1) Yes, all you need to do is open up the air cleaner and replace the filter. I thought it was held closed with clips, but I may be wrong. I'm not sure you would need a DIY guide for it. Just open, replace, close.
2) You shouldn't even need to keep any receipts. I guess it may be a good idea if Nissan really puts up a fight, but I've never kept any receipts and never had any issue getting warranty work done. Doing it yourself can't void your warranty, unless they could show that you did it so grossly wrong that you caused the malfunction.

I haven't bought it yet.... but when I went to Mr. Lube for an oil change they offered to change my air filter for like $65 and that didn't seem right.... everythingg35 sells them for like $10. Hopefully they ship to Canada
There are four clips you must pop off. Then there is a 10mm bolt that should be removed on your right holding the back housing to the inside fender well. It's still not easy to remove and replace it, but you can squeez it in, I did.
