Question Any recommendations?

Hi all. Potential G35 owner here. I'll type more of an introduction later as its pretty late right now...

I'm currently looking at a '04 G35 (MT) Coupe, and I want to get a better idea of any potential problems or hindsight I might get stuck in the *** with in the future...

* I understand it that there was a TSB/recall on '05-'06 MT Coupes... Were there any fuel problems with the '04's I should know about?

* The car that I'm looking at has around 30,000 miles on it. Edmunds listed the following warranty coverage:

Basic: 4 yr. / 60,000 mi.
Drivetrain: 6 yr. / 70,000 mi.
Roadside: 4 yr. / 60,000 mi.
Rust: 7 yr. / Unlimited mi.

Now, is the warranty transferable? If so, is there any other step I need to take to "register"?

* Anything else I should be looking for particular before I sink $$$ into this buy?

Thanks for your input!

The oil consumption problems were few and far between on the '04 6MTs. The problem has been attributed to the "rev up" engines of '05+ 6MTs.

The warranty is transferable. After I purchased my G used, I simply went into the Infiniti dealership and they looked the car up by VIN, and I am entitled to the duration of my warranty.

What is the asking price on the car? G's have depreciated a lot in the last 6-8 months, so what may have seemed like a great deal even a few months ago may not be now.

Best of luck! You're gonna love it!

Hey, thanks for the info. Asking price was $21,500, but we settled on $20,000. Hows that sound?

Sounds like a great deal. My 04 had a window motor replaced, a window seal replaced, and a compression rod replaced all in the first month of ownership. Since then, not a SINGLE problem. Extremely reliable car so far. Good luck.

I know the KBB private party "good" value of my '04 6MT with ~46K miles is between $19-20,000, so that sounds like a great deal for one with 30,000.

The only problems my 04 had were the rear axle clicking, rear-view mirror rattle, and a bad fuel sender. All the issues were fixed under warranty no problem.

The car sounds like a pretty good deal, I'd say go for it

Pretty reliable car, there are just a few of the small common issues like the window motors but great car besides the few little bugs.
