Black Oem Rays on Silver Coupe

I am thinking about getting my factory 19 rays powder coated black. I can not find any pictures on here of this done. Does anyone have any pics? Any suggestions? I was thinking more of a flat black, but I am not sure. Thanks!

Our's is DG, but in the right light, it looks silver. They are gloss black and look SUPER cool (IMO, obviously)...

Actually, they are painted. The reason was in case you need to repair any chips or curbage...

I bought the car with them as a spare set of wheels. I liked them better than the OEM Silver color. We have those, as well and they are in mint condition so, if these fail and become crap in terms of flaking, etc., we have a minty fresh set of the same thing in OEM colors...

I can check. I suspect they'd run you about $500 or so to paint. These were done rather well and were sanded, etc...

I still may have them powder coated, but so far, they are holding up rather well and no knicks or anything. Plus, when you have them clean, they look so good....

Thats a little expensive.. I had my old wheels powder coated for about $350. And that included repairing one 1 bent wheels, and heat treating all 4 wheels to make it strong and powder coating and another heat treatment.

Whoa... That's cheap for here. Getting a bent rim fixed is at MINIMUM $100. The powder coating was quoted to me as being about $400, I think.

The painting was a little time consuming and when I talked to a guy who paints our race plastic, in prep time and painting with clear coat, we'd be looking at close to $500...

Powder coating was cheaper and thus probably what I will go with if these get all beat up...

Thats weird because here in Cali, painting is cheaper.. About $60 per wheel if there is no damage and all it needs is some sand blasting and a recoat..

Powder Coating cost more, and its also more durable then paint.

Again, was talking with a guy who does our race bodywork. I suspect he was thinking hand sanding vs. sand blaster...

We got the wheels with the car so, I didn't pay to have them done... If I can get them powder coated for under $250, I will get it done. Maybe I'll get a quote from a powder coat guy I trust...

hand sanding isn't as effective as sand blasting. No way you can get thru the nooks and crannies with manual sanding. but good luck anyways!

Yea if he was looking into doing his OEM 18's then a DIY would be great but the OEM 19's have way too many hard-to-get places it might not come out that great.

thats the only bad thing about powder coating. Super heating wheels that aren't strong enough to handle it, makes the wheels brittle.
