Need Auto-Dimming Mirror

I did nto purchase the Premium Package option which include an auto dimming mirror. I know they make aftermarket models and I would like to find out if I could install one of these or find one of the mirrors from the Premium Package. The hard part is the wiring of the mirror.

If anyone has any ideas on how to do this I GREATLY appreciate it.

Thanks.

Jason

Re: Need Auto-Dimming Mirror

Not really hard at all, You can buy a mirror just like the Z one cheaper! Then all you need to do is tap the power in your roof console.(Home link, and auto-dim are ran by two sources of power. Home link stays on always, auto-dim turns of with the car. [Just match these power taps] The 3rd wire is ground. Thats all you need....)

The Z mirror also has a compass thats programable too, this is ran on the same power as the auto dim.

Run a search here, and at www.freshalloy.com others have done this!

Re: Need Auto-Dimming Mirror

I couldn't find anything about it here or at freshalloy.com. I am thinking that even if I got a mirror from a Z, how would the wiring work if my car was not designed for that type of mirror? Would all the wiring still be there or would it have to be added as I don't want to have to mess around in my dash too much.

Thanks alot and if you want email me at jdanziger@sbcglobal.net

it's just a powered mirror. really has nothing to do with your car.

Re: Need Auto-Dimming Mirror

I live in the city and usually turn the autodimming function off at night unless I'm on the freeway. In downtown traffic at night, I prefer being able to see everything behind me (cyclists when making right turns, cops, the make/ model of other cars, etc.)

It's great that you can turn it on or off in the G -- my last car had it automatically on at night with no choice -- so I deactivated it permanently. To be honest I didn't miss it.
