Are our airbag computers black boxes?
Are our airbag computers black boxes?
I know some cars have black boxes/ data recorders in their airbag computers that can give exact info on their speed, when they braked, when they accelerated etc. In some accidents, they're retrieving that data as evidence for convictions etc.
Anyway, I was wondering if our G's have these so-called "event data recorders" in our airbag SDM's?... Does anyone know for sure? Just curious. I know all GM cars and some other makes have them, but do we?

Re: Are our airbag computers black boxes?
I don't know if they really are recorders but there is a pretty good size "brain" under the armrest for the airbags. It's about 4 x 4 x 2 and nowadays you can put a lot of high-tech crap in a box that big.
