I'm on my way to work, light traffic because it's early. On a 6 lane 45mph speed limit with a light every 1 mile. I see an Audi 2.7 maneuvering in front of me. He's doing the "last 10 feet I'm going to change lanes and pull out in front of you so I can have pole position at the light, and I'm not going to use my turn signal thing" on me. One of my pet peeves.

So he's on the right, some Saturn POS in the middle and me on the left. We're all at the front. Light changes and I do my standard half to 3/4 throttle, gotta get to work, acceleration and he's a little less aggresive but I'm thinking he's seeing what I did as an act of aggression, even though it's my typical launch to spread things out.

Next light comes up and I'm in left lane, he's in middle, front of the pack. He's not revving, but I'm waiting for him to stomp it this time after we start rolling. VDC off. (Check) Climate control off (Check). 1/8 of a tank of gas, 1 mile to the next light, no pings from radar detector, and I'm wearing sunglasses....hit it.

Just as I suspect I launch like I normally do and this guy is getting on it. He's made a preemptive strike. No matter. I floor it, she kicks down into about 2nd, and in about 3 seconds I'm around 65 mph and he's listening to my pop charger at FULL BORE. Before I hit it, he was a half a car length in front, I caught his *** from behind and unleashed the fury. "Yeah I got a match....my *** and your face". The Z tube kicks in right when my tail pipes were walking past his drivers side window. He gave up at that point...either that or he was just leveling off at 60 (normal traffic speed for that area), but in any case I was walking past him when he was at full bore up to that point.

He had a 20% tint so I have no idea what his expression was, or whether or not I was going to get a thumbs up at the next light or not. Didn't matter, I had to make a turn so we parted company.

I don't think his was a quattro, as I didn't see badging all over the place, and he was definitely an automatic...no surging or jerking. After 1300 miles and a month later someone finally tried to play. It's not the Honda civic with a tuna can on the end I was hoping for, but an Audi will do just fine.

The other Audi guys get here. First, no such thing as an A4 2.7. If it was a 2.7 then it was either an S4 (quattro only) or an A6. So maybe you aren't clear on which car you were racing. Maybe it was a 2.8, if it was, those aren't nearly as fast as the G. Either way good kill just get the facts straight before you get flamed.

My first test was at 75MPH with an Acura TL on a crowded highway.....I just had to laugh at this fool trying to swerve and cut back and forth thru the traffic to get a little ahead.....wish I had a camera for that one......

doohhhh.....2.8 that is. Definitely not an A6. I drove an A4 for 4 years so I'm very familiar with the body and where the quattro bading is. But I had a 1.8T and I knew there was a 2. something....of the top of my head I wrote 2.7 as the visual memory stuck with me when I shopped the A6. The straight fact is I remember seeing the "2" on his rear deck. And I wasn't near his rear deck for very long, so excuse me.

Obviously they aren't "nearly as fast" because I ate the guy for breakfast. Point is, he made the pre-emptive strike with RPGs and I had a MOAB. That's what he gets.

haha nice kill. yea 2.7's are s4's and a6's. and they are standard quattro. a4 2.8 isnt slow but ure g is definately faster. well actually yea the 2.8 is slow hahaha~

Our cars don't do 0-60 in 3 sec bro. Now, Audi_2_7t has first hand experience in racing a G off of the line ;-) and he'll tell you that if an A6 Quattro is ahead, they are staying ahead. I only beat Danny (Audi_2_7t ) in a 'Street Race", but his time was 2 tenths faster, and that was his slowest run. Great story though...I'd bet it was an A4 1.8. Let me clarify, my 2.7 post was a mistake, it was a 2.8. And I was already rolling when I hit it, so it was more like 15-65 or 20-60 or something like that. I waited till he floored it, then I floored it. I wasn't even looking at the speedometer so give me a little latitude here .

I had a 96 A4 2.8 non-quatro and while it was definitely not as powerful as the last 2.8's it was not even in the same ballpark as the coupe. The 2.7T A6 is better (I test drove them) but its a different beast than the coupe and costs ~$10-15k more....beautiful car but a bit too heavy to compete without mods IMO.

I missed my Audi for 2 weeks until I got the Coupe 2.5 weeks ago. I just broke 1000 miles and the coupe is far more fun and gets far more attention. I never had people giving me thumbs up and saying things as I drove by in my Audi...not that that matters...I love how it drives!!
