2006 oil consumption
I saw a thread about the 2006 and oil issues. I am very scared to hear this news. My g is not my daily driver I have about 20k on it now.
What should I do now? Do I need to contact the dealership and have them look at it?

The best way to go about the OC issue on your 2006 is schedule your next oil change at the dealership.
At that point, as part of the TSB, they have infiniti service records of your last oil change.
By following the flow chart, if you have infiniti records, they have a quicker method to determine if you'll get a new longblock or not.
This is what I'm going to do in about 1400 miles, got it at 23,600 currently.

Pay attention to your oil level on the dipstick. My 03 didn't start consuming until 49K miles. Then it only got worse from that point, consuming a max of 3 quarts per 1000 miles.
My 06 is doing about 1/4 quart per 1000 miles, I'm taking it in soon.

To the OP, before going to the dealer do a simple test yourself. Change the oil now. Drive the car for ~1500 miles or so (it will take some time!) and measure the oil level on the dipstick often. Drive like you would normally, city driving and make sure you don't baby the car during the test. Do a search for the OC TSB and see if you are in the "danger zone" on the chart. If at any time you are very low on the dipstick then take the car to the dealership. Once you get to this point then there are multiple threads on what to do during the test and what to do if the dealership is not playing nice. Good Luck!
