So... I've finally broken in my car, and I'm definitely feeling the need to redline right whenever possible. I resetted my trip computer, fuel economy, distance till empty after I filled up the tank on my Nav... For the past 50 miles, I've been redlining practically wherever I am for the fun of it, and my Navigation is telling me I'm getting 11.2mpg!! =)

I think I've proved my point that my car can waste a lot of gas... but it's oh so fun!! Just wanted to share my story of "experiencing" my new G! =) Question is: How many MPG are the rest of you guys getting on "normal" driving with your G if there ever is such a thing..??! Anyone ever approach the theoretical 27mpg we're suppose to get on the freeway?

 

I average 15-18 mpg in the city. I have made 2 trips from Charlotte to Tampa and back in my G. I hit 29 mpg on one of those tanks of gas. I averaged 25 mpg on the rest of the travel.

 

I dont have NAV but I can tell you this much

1st half of tank, driving normally (2500-3500 RPM shifting, 3200 RPM's cruising highway) I get about 250 Miles out of the first half of my tank.

1st half of tank, driving aggressivly (using 3rd gear like an *** to get on route 18 faster, shifting at redline, chirping tires, cruising highway at 3800 RPMS) I get about 175 Miles out of the first half of the tank.

This car is two different animals. Its an amazing daily driver and one of the best freeway sprinters I've ever had the privledge to drive, but hey, $32 to fill up every time is the price I pay more frequently for doing that.

My car got 22mpg last fill up when I babied her.....I was one of the ones saying it was impossible for me to get that. Now I'm getting 15mpg but its by choice.

I'm sure I'll baby a full gas tank one of these days... like I did for the first 1000miles or so!!! But I have a real urge to just floor it right now when I see open roads, red lights, freeway onramps, etc. And yes, that squeel of the tires shifting from 1st to 2nd sounds great!! This tank of gas is my gift to myself for getting a G... and I'll gonna drive it as if gas is out of style!! =)
