Strange humm noise on 04 coupe on deceleration..

I have a 2004 G35 Coupe. I have been having a very annoying low pitched humm coming from my car on deceleration between 70-80mph. It does not make this noise at all upon any kind of acceleration.

The car is bone stock with the exception of a JWT clutch and lightweight flywheel and a Stillen cold air.

It has been to two different Infiniti dealerships three times now and the problem is still not fixed. They have replaced the rear diff and front wheel bearings and still no luck. Does anyone have any recommendations on what else to look at?

Thanks

Is your AC on when you're doing this? If it is, try turning off the AC and see if the noise goes away; could be the AC belt.

Tires maybe?

I've noticed - especially on the stock Michelins - that my tires get loud at certain speeds. It's more noticeable when I'm decelerating/coasting since there's no engine/exhaust noise to cover up the sound.

+1 on the tires...chances are, you have tire feathering. check your inner part of the tread.

The noise will eventually get louder and louder, it doesn't necessarily mean that you need new tires. You can just pretend it's a wear indicator telling you that you might need new tires soon.

Rule the tires out...

I have brand new ones on it (Not even 1000 miles) and it has also just been aligned as well.

The noise is still exactly the same as before.

I've only had this issue with tires...

Best thing to do is take it to another dealer.

It was at the dealer for three days last week and they are telling me that its the clutch doing it..

I am having a very hard time buying that one since the clutch is less than 20,000 miles old and the noise has just developed.

I have something similar, but it doesn't do it all the time. Place your hand on the shifter and see if it feels different when it's making the noise, mine does as if it's a high frequency vibration. I never had any problems, until I changed the rear dif. & tranny oil with Royal Purple. Now I even have humming noise when temperature is below 50 degrees F. Another possibility is since the motor is breaking, slowing the car down, exhaust sound may change. Also check your cold air intake, as the filter picks up dirt, the air velocity entering the filter element increases, which may induce strange noises. Just a thought.

I took the cold air intake off and installed the stock one and its still there..

I am at a total loss here. I am not really sure if I should take it to another shop and have them look at it now. It has been to two shops already for this noise now.

Just drive to below 70 MPH...problem solved you will never hear it again!

Seriously are you sure it is not related to the lightweight flywheel or clutch you have in it? I would be concerned if all the oem stuff has been replaces. bearings, rear end..etc. and you got new tires I would think the aftermarket stuff maybe the cause of unexpected noises?
