G35c vs. Honda S2000
Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
Z06ified, have you ever posted your impressions of the G vs your Z06? I know it's apples and oranges but I'd be interested to know all the same what you like better about the G and what you like better about the vette. Reason I ask is because I was considering the vette for a while and every now and then I see a sweet looking Z06 on the road and I wonder what it would have been like.
Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
Whoa Zo6. This is not FA. We try to keep it light here. Always take something to be sarcastic or funny here before you take it at face value.
BTW - I wish I could afford to have two cars - and one be a Z06 or a Viper. You can take that literally.

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
hahahahahahahaha- Ryoken was referring to that prized piece of machinery named Chevette. None of us would 'Dis' the Corvette (at least not without smiling).
From my standpoint, I'm happy to be in the same company as any Corvette----It's one B/A machine..........
Like Mani, I too would love to hear how the 2 cars compare.
Post your impressions bro.Thanks---

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
Why the G35 is superior to the S2000:
1) When it starts to rain I don't have to put the top up (although I may have to close the sunroof)
2) When more than 1 friend wants to go for a ride, I've got room for 4, sometimes even 5 in a pinch!
3) Torque baby, Torque
4) When a-holes follow me too closely I can blind them with my LED tail lights!
5) With a 5 speed automatic I don't have to worry about shifting gears.
6) No hunting for the "start" button after a few too many.
7) Nav system keeps me from getting lost on the way home from the track.
8) 6 disc in-dash changer means I can drive coast to coast withouth ever stopping to insert new CD's.
9) Mmmm seat heaters...
10) HomeLink (R) garage door opener built in for those times when you need to put the car away quickly before the fuzz arrives!

Yep, looks like a clear winner, hands down!

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
Sorry - didn't meant to attack like that, and of course realize my error now that he was referring to a Chevette, not a Corvette. I was in a punchy mood when I wrote that. My bad.
Anyway, to answer Mani's question about a comparison between G35 and Z06: I don't own a G35 Coupe yet. I'm currently looking for one now (6MT, fully loaded; DG/G, DP/W, or B/G), and I've never driven one or ridden in one yet. So I don't have any real experience with the car to compare it to YET. But I do own a Z06 now, and I've researched, read about, and seen enough about the G35 Coupe to come to the following opinions:
What I like better about the G35:
- Seats (the Z06 seats are weak, with no side bolster support, and mediocre leather, although they are comfy)
- Infiniti service, reputation, and warranty
- There's a back seat and room for 4 (sort of) !
- In-dash CD- changer. No changer available for the Z06 (stock at least)
- Nav system availability
- A real trunk with fold down seats.
- Heated seats (not available on Z06)
- More color choices
- 4 cup holders that work (the Z06's single cupholder is a joke)
- Better shifter and shift feel, comfy shift ****
Here's what I like better about the Z06:
- Performance in all categories
- Big power
- Styling (don't get me wrong, I love the look of the G35 coupe)
- Head-up display is awesome
- Tires, wheels, brakes, etc.
- Exhaust sound is just incredible (although the G35 sound wonderful too, just in a different way). I'm a sucker for V-8 roar though, and titanium mufflers make a unique tone.
- Corvette ownership - no other car has a more rabidly enthusiastic owner group. It can be a lifestyle if you want it to. Just a huge group of great people.
- Lots of modifications available for less money than most import parts. I'm amazed how many mods are available for the Z06, some of which are absolutely insane (427 C5R twin turbo, for example) .
- Easy to work on, easy to maintain.
- Driver Information Center
- Gauge cluster is better (oil pressure, volts, etc.)
- Cool black light backlighting on gauges (I'm not a fan of orange in the G, even if its easier on the eyes)
- 405hp and it gets 30MPG on the highway - no joke!!!
- Excellent DSC system with 'competition mode' that allows wheelspin but not a full spin.
- Traction control system that is actually off, when you turn it off (I've heard the G's TC sometimes still kicks in even when off).
I'm sure I'll have more opinions once I actually get the G.

Hey bro, Thanks for sharing. We look forward to more info in the future.
I hear ya on the exhaust: there's nothing quite like the growl of 8 cylinders-- it's very unique.

Since when did this thread become G35c vs. Z06?
Kendude, comparisions were great haha. I really don't see why people need a vehicle w/ more than 300hp+ unless they go to the track. Big difference - the S2000 can only sit 2, the G 4. The G being heavier has more stability as well. Haha with a nice powerful gust of wind, I wouldn't be surprised to see an S2000 flying aimlessly in the air!

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
I'll bring the discussion back on track.
I used to rag on S2000's until I got to drive one here:
http://www.tailofthedragon.com
It's one of the best "driver's roads" on the east coast and with equal drivers a S2000 would beat a G35C 6MT, IMHO. Sure it has little tq, seats only 2, small trunk, etc, etc but it offers race track performance (when pushed) that few cars know...and I'm talking braking and handling as well as acceleration. Take it to redline in the 1st 4 gears and it accelerates just fine. Sure lots of people don't like the high redline and many other cars are better suited for day-to-day driving but Honda offers a nice $30K package that gives great reliablilty and mpg when under 5K rpms and a "wanna-be" F1 screamer above 6K+ rpms. Lot's of people knock the S2000 cause the think of ricer Civics in the same breath but don't be fooled...it's not even close. Honda is also no slouch when it comes to F1 and MC racing and the 100hp/l reaps the rewards of their racing technology. It's not the car for me because I need a bit more roominess but I'll take one to a road course anyday of the week. Another plus is resale...have you ever seen what they go for used...really retains its value wonderfully.
I like my G35C but I'll never rag on the S2000.
As for the Z06...my next door neighbor is the sales mgr at a Chevy dealer and he brought home the '01 = 385hp version last Summer. Needless to say we spent a good hour learning a whole new meaning for FUN, FUN, FUN! What an awesome ride! I still smile thinking about it.

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
The S2000 (not in comparison to the G) is actually not a "featherweight" car like the Miata, MR2, etc like some people think. It weighs in at around 2800lbs, which is pretty hefty for a convertible of its size. It has one of the most rigid convertible chassis I have ever driven in a convertible (makes the 3 series convertible and the Z3 feel like limp noodles). Its rigidity even feels like it rivals those of some sports coupes and hatchbacks.
I wish I still had that car!....I miss it. Once in a while, I do seem some "ricey" Civic owners "moving up" and buying used S2000's and tacking on questionable space wings and other butt ugly ground effects.
My fav aspect of the car was its handling...it was unforgiving if you did not know what you were doing, but that car was very confidence-inspiring......I would even dare to say more so than my G35 Coupe.
And yes, the S2000 will be faster on roads like the "Dragon", with equal drivers of course. And yes, they have excellent resale....I sold mine this past November. Mine was a red 2000 model (very first year) with about 37,000 miles on it. I sold it to a local dealer for $23,000. The sad thing is that many dealers here in Socal are still price gouging it.
I think it's an excellent car for the price and for what it is.

Re: G35c vs. Honda S2000
Currently owning both, I'll put my 2 cents in. The aforementioned apples and oranges comparison rings true. The S2000 is what I consider a pure sports car and my 6MT 'G is more of a sport touring car (sorry, but you won't get any diehard sports car fan to give a 4 seat car the sports car nod). The S2000 doesn't have heated seats, the CD changer (I don't have one) is mounted in the trunk, and is generally rough on the butt after an hour on bumpy pavement. But for the closest feeling to driving a superbike while still on 4 wheels, it can't be beat. But for blasting to work everyday in something that combines similar speed with the added luxury, I had to add the G35 to the stable. Overall, the speed is similar between the two, just delivered differently. One thing of note, and I was wondering if other current or ex-S2000 owners can verify, is that the gear ratios on the S2000 are taller in 1st and 2nd than the G? It could be the extra redline room, but for some reason the S seems to get more MPH in the lower gears than the G. The torque advantage of the G seems to be most noticeable in 3rd gear which is probably why they run similar 0-60 times. Anyway, I like 'em both!

Since when did this thread become G35c vs. Z06?
<hr>
Well... quite quickly.
FormerS2000: All in all, it's not a fair comparison. Two cars that are a world apart in terms of differences and purpose.
OvaYahead: they both have 4 wheels, a motor and rear wheel drive.
FormerS2000: Sure, why not. Heck, let's compare the G to a Chevy Chevette.
ryoken: 'vettes start to shake violently at about 70mph. At that point a G35 could probably keep up.
Z06ified: Care to take on my 'vette?
(referring to Corvettes, not Chevettes -- and no, I wouldn't care to take on a real 'vette, since you asked!)
Or was it just a rhetorical question?
