DEALER MISHAP
DEALER MISHAP
Hello All. This is my first post. Dealer serviced my vehicle and removed the rims to reseat the wheel bearings and chipped 3 rims in the lug nut area. They didn't even tell me. Upon confronting them, they initially offered to send them out to be repaired, but when the service manager overheard the conversation he then offers me brand new rims in chrome. Do you think this is better then my oem gun metal rims?
Re: DEALER MISHAP
The ***** in your court.....if you want to replace them with chrome...go for it.......if they are the 18"s they probably wont be able to match them to your good wheel.....so if you like chrome...not a bad trade off.....

Re: DEALER MISHAP
Tell them to give you BRAND NEW stock rims. They can go out to another car on the lot, take off the rims and put them on your car. They then can go and have your rims cheaply repaired and then chrome your damaged rims and put them back on the other new car on the lot.
Chrome rims are MUCH heavier than stock and will slow you down... Almost as much as having another passenger in the car with you. Remember the chrome process goes like this; add a coat of nickel (heavy), add a coat of copper (heavy) and then add the chrome (heavy). Also think of the old "rule of thumb"... 1 pound of "unsprung weight" is equivalent to four pounds of "sprung weight". Chrome rims would probably be 5 -10 pounds heavier for each wheel.
Just a thought, your mileage may vary.

Re: DEALER MISHAP
I very much dislike chrome rims, but it's all a matter of taste.
