Racing SL 500
Re: Racing SL 500
Sometimes really, really expensive cars aren't as quick and nimble as say a 50k corvette. For example most classics, rolls royce's, bentleys. The Aston Martin Vanquish is a pretty slow sports car/coupe with a big engine (slow compared to a vette or M3) but I'd rather have that any day of the week (over a vette or m3).

The SL55 will walk you? 493hp and 516lbs ft of torque and only walk? I'm sorry but I find that a bit humorous. He will only walk on you but I would dare to say smoke you...but that is jus my 2 cents...

Re: Racing SL 500
Yeah, the new SL55 AMG is so incredible. One time I was in my friend's 03 325i Sport Auto and we were on this one-lane curvy road, right behind an SL55 AMG, it was soooo hot. And the road opens up later on into 2 lanes, and when it did, the SL55 hopped into the right lane and accelerated and my friend did the same, but the SL55 easily out-powered my friend's 325i and I don't think the SL55 driver was even close to flooring it during that burst of acceleration. At this point, I advised my friend, "Dude don't even try."
Mercedes has usually preferred ride comfort over handling, but they have always provided a good balance of both. Not that they are truly spirited driving machines, but they are stable in the turns and stuff (remember that MB knows all their cars have to be autobahn-ready right from the factory). Also, with all these new AMG cars available, MB has definitely taken steps to show that they DO care about performance. Especially the up-coming SL65 AMG and CL65 AMG. What are they, something like 612hp and 738 torque, right? Bi-turbo V-12...UNBELIEVABLE.

Oh if anyone thought I was over-reactin my apologies. I jus think it would have been more appropriate if he didn't say walked. From my understanding if you walk on me in a race that means you are SLOWLY pulling away. If the pull is the about the same in the SL55 as in my E55 I highly doubt it would jus "walking" Once again I did not mean to sound like I'm over-reacting. If anyone took it offensive my deepest apologies...

Since most SL55 drivers are over 50yr old, and 1/3 of them are old ladies taking the Mercedes convertible out shopping for makeups.
