Oil consumption
Oil consumption
My '04 G coupe has 15k miles on it. During that time, the car has burned through 8 quarts of oil. Between the 7500 and 15000 oil changes--yes, since I use Royal Purple full synthetic I change my oil every 7500 miles--I added a quart to it. It seemed a bit low, but since getting an accurate reading with this dipstick is virtually un-possible, I didn't want to add more for risk of over filling. Well, today I did the oil change and there was no more than a quart left in the engine! In 7500 miles, the car burned through 5 quarts of oil. I have never had an oil spot left under my car when parked, so it doesn't seem like a leak. I haven't noticed any blue smoke coming out the exhaust either. The oil is just disappearing. In searching, I came across a couple of people with Z's that had similar issues, and Nissan replaced their engines. Has anyone here had any similar experience?

Re: Oil consumption
I lost over 2 quarts in the 3000 miles. That was with whatever dino oil the factory uses. The problem is not related to what oil I am using because I have had the same problem before switching to synthetic. Also, I used royal purple on my first G (which was totaled) and never had any oil loss. I ran it on my Audi A4 and my GTI. The suggested oil change interval on those cars is 10k. I never experienced oil loss on those cars either. Besides this is a common problem on the Z, and none of the others were running RP.
