im buying a 03 g35 coupe 6mt for $17k on friday(aug 15) and i need all the advice that i can get.

the car has 67k miles, it has the aero package, navigation and the dealer told me it has the premium package too. i just need an advice on the most important things to look at when buying a used 03 g35 with a 6mt, Also red flags that will indicate the car is not good to buy. one more thing, the car doesnt have the engine cover with the infiniti logo on it, is that normal?

Car looks okay to me.

 

looking at those pics, it appears the car was brought back to stock. that just my gut feeling from lookin at it. i also think 17k is a little to much, maybe 15k will be better.

 

Looks like the car was modded and put back ro stock. Just check all the lines in the engine bay for no leaks or anything. Also ask when the last time the brakes, tires, and clutch were replaced. They are the costly items. Also see if there are any maintnance records to see if the 60k mile check up was done. The car has ~70,000 miles on it but has aero/nav so the price seems just a tad bit high for the milage.

When going to buy the car offer $15,750 and point out the fact that it looked to be modded as well as showing all the dent/kicks/scrapes. They might take that offer and it would be a steal! But to me that car is worth no more than $16,500.

 

make sure it has Brembos!!! i couldn't see them in the picture. ALL 03/04 6MT had them. hopefully the previous owner didn't sell them for some extra cash or something.

 

+1....Great pick up man. Check for yourself to see if they have brembos, it doesn't look like it unless he got them painted. The car was deffinately modded if there are no brembos.

 

+1 Def looks like the car was modded...that plenum is either the crawford plenum or the APS Tall Boy. I would not be surprised if this car was boosted in the past.

 

Def no Brembos on the car. on the web site itself it had more pictures of it an you can tell it has either the single piston or at best, a dual piston in the front. i'd say pass on it and keep looking, you'll be much better off. check in the marketplace here and you might find something near you.

from the pictures, is the plenum really an aftermarket one? does the 03' comes with a stock infiniti engine cover?

when i saw the car in person, it had the slotted brake rotors but it doesnt have the brembo calipers tho, so you guys think it has been modded before? does the regular g35 coupe 6mt comes with slotted brake rotors?

Yes that plenum is aftermarket... Yes the car should have come with an engine cover... No the G does not come with slotted brake rotors...

Yes there is an engine cover it should look something like this:

 

keep looking. cars.com, autotrader. google base beta are all good places to look you can find something cleaner, not modded, and maybe with less mileage than that. the reason you dont want a modded one is because you may run into alot of problems in the future because of excess wear & tear on the engine and the rest of the car.
