Another TPMS question...

So i really dont want to run my 19"s in the Ohio winter. So I think Im going to buy a new set of 17"s with winter tires for my 05. I have searched here and read that this will set off my TPMS light since the new setup will not have the sensors. My question is how bad is the light? Is it a blinking light, does any type of audible alarm sound? I just want to try and decide how annoying it will be with no sensors. Anyone else here ever done this? What have your experiences been? Thanks!

Tire Pressure Sensor Warning....!

It's just a red light on your dash and there is no audible noise involved. Glad
I don't need to have winter tires where I live, I probably buy a 4X4 truck and
park my G!

I have an 05 and ran 17's without TPMS for 3 winters in Boston.
It's just a light that comes on without a noise. Also, if your usual ride is less than 25 mins (i think) it's not even going to matter. The light will not even come on because the sensors take about that long to register. So for me, I was only driving about 15mins to and from work and it would never come on.

yeah if i recall correctly when i had a nail in my tire, the light came on and then later that day when i turned the car on to go put some air in it and drive to have the tire fixed, there was a beep for a few seconds (pretty sure it was less than 10 seconds) and then nothing but the solid light after that

if my memory is accurate about it, then it is definitely something you can live with through the winter

Mine came on a couple days ago, really cool morning, it beeped the first time for 5 secs or so. Every time you start your car all dummy lights come on, basically testing them, now it just stays from start-up with no noises. I guess I need to put more air in...

Yep, my tire was low and it was a loud beep when I first started the car. Like the others it was about 3 to 5 seconds long. Can he not use the TPMS sensors that are in the 19" wheels though? Just curious on that last bit. I realize removing the 19s from their wheels is not ideal.

its a differant sensor...

the beep will happen when tire is xx% lower than the rest.

a lot of my customers have winter wheels and tires they get the packages from tire rack. the solid light dosn't bother them at all, when none of the sensors are there there will be no beep just a solid light all the time.

ok, just an update but the 07 G35 sedan's tpms does go into the g37 wheels perfectly fine. no warnings no beeping, they were the same.

without the sensors on the rims, the light comes on after about 30min, and its solid light with no beep. Next time you start your car it will disappear.

It's no big deal, just have to get used to seeing that light on the cluster for the first couple of times.
