Re: Roof Spoiler Poll

I might be interested in it as a window shade. Even with the 30% tint on the rear of my coupe, my kids still complained about the sun beating down on their heads on a hot day out here in California. I've resorted to putting a second layer of static cling tint across the top 18 inches or so of the rear window, so it's about 5% light transmittance in that portion. I'm using that only over the summer months. I really can't see anything out the rear window in that double tinted part. The rest of my view is fine. So a roof spoiler that acts as a sunshade over the top of the rear window would be very practical for me.

Re: Roof Spoiler Poll

okay, so I tried the photoshop thing and it didn't turn out great..

So, I gave that up, so I will wait until I get a mock up for my car, and post it with a coupe, hopefully the dimensions are not that off..

Does anyone know the dimensions of the back window?

Re: Roof Spoiler Poll

Maybe this is a good thread to pose this question:
Why do people put wings and stuff on their cars?

I understand the factory chin spoiler and the trunk spoiler, they've been proven in a wind tunnel to reduce lift and drag.

But to add a wing for more rear downforce, and drag, why would you do that unless you were road racing on a racetrack?

Just wondering, maybe you guys can help me understand this trend.

Re: Roof Spoiler Poll

that's no answer to my question. Or maybe I asked it wrong.

I understand the principles of aerodynamics and what a wing does, my question is: why do people put these on street cars that will never go around a corner faster than 40 mph?

I guess I don't get it.

Re: Roof Spoiler Poll

my 87 chevy blazer had one. it was actually functional. helped push rain off back window quicker with the air flow.

however, my g has never been out in the rain.
