taillights
Re: taillights
Sorry dude, no clue about what type of bulb the LEDs are. I'd call a dealership if I were you or you can PM learn2turn over on the freshalloy.com boards. He works at a dealership in VA and can probably help you out.

V6 HYUNDAI Tiburon. GG.
Guess wht? The M3 has as many cylinders as me. As with the Supra TT MK IV, 300ZX TT. I can't really run with them.
Guess wht else? The EVO and STI have two LESS cylinders than me. So naturally I'm the dominant car right...?
There's only two good things that come from Korea. Women and cell phones. In that order.

Re: taillights
You want LED specs? Try Radio Shack (TM)

I'm not going to flame you....or am I??!
Well, I'll try not to.
1) We don't know (and have no way of knowing) what "kind" or "type" of LED's are in the tail-lights. If you're looking for LED's, try Radio Shack. The dealer (omgz, lolz1!!11!1!!111!) will not help you, the sales people are guaranteed [98%] to be clueless about even the simplest questions, not to mention "specs of LED's on a G35 tail-light assembly"; thats like asking a farmer to give you the gear ratios on his tractor. The service people might be more helpful, but chances of them knowing ANYTHING about "LED's" for the G35's tail lights are very slim as well.
2) If you're not trying to retrofit the whole tail-light assembly, what exactly are you trying to do? You just want to know the type of LED's? Regular old LED's, probably more expensive than the typical cheap stuff due to the higher reliability required for tail-light use. Don't ask me where to get the good stuff though. Ask an electronics professional (or a knowledgeable electronics-specific salesperson outside of Radio Shack) where to obtain high-quality high-reliability long-lasting LED's.
Anyway...
You wanted specs? Here(random red LED specs):
Wavelength: 660 nm (typ.), Type: T-1-3/4 (5mm), Lens Color: Red, Viewing Angle: 40°, If mA: 20 (max.), Vf: 1.8 (volts typ.), Vf: 2.4 (volts max.)

Re: taillights
thanks man, the main things im concerned about is the brightness, size, and viewing angle. i wanted to know the specs on the g35's so then i'd know they'd be visible. i've been lookin around ebay and www.superbrightleds.com for awhile now. so are those pretty close to the ones the g35's have?
Re: taillights
You are not going to find out what the LED specs are. I doubt you will even find that at a dealership. They can only give you the complete assembly since they are intended to last the life of the car, meaning a service guy will never have to replace an individual LED. I assume the designers took that into account when making the taillights, so there won't be an easy way to pop one out and check the specs with a meter. Your best bet is to pickup a damaged set of coupe taillights, but you would have to outbid me first...
In all honesty, you will not be able to duplicate the look with ease. All you will be able to do is get "dots" in a similar shape. You won't get the same flare that the G35 taillights have because each LED has a long clear cylindrical housing leading to the edge of the light. That affects the final look of the lighting immensely.
I would try between 5,000-8,000 mcd with a 40 degree output. Anything higher and you may run into some pink-orange hues. Good luck and post pictures when you are done. I'm interested to see how they turn out. But be prepared to get flamed even worse than are now. You won't find much love imitating a car's look and posting it on that car's forum. It's like all those civics with that M3 front fender vent. You coming to us is like that civic owner asking a BMW forum about duplicating that.
EDIT: If you aren't duplicating the "gatling gun" look, but just want to know the LED specs for you own design, then that's cool and you should have made that a tad more clear in your original post to avoid the flames. The above information I gave you should give you a decent starting point. LEDs are dirt cheap. Buy a bunch at different specs and see which works best for your application.

Re: taillights
thanks for the consideration. yea, i know what you mean about people wanting to imitate your car. i usually take it as a compliment. if they turn out how i want them to, they should look real good. i'll keep everyone posted.
Re: taillights
i have no friggin clue about the leds in the taillights but like the others said you should try contacting maybe osmeone in the service dept of a dealership?
and coming from hyundai, i think the tiburon is actually a pretty decent car. i'm not saying that cause i'm korean but i think if peopel hooked it up properly, not riced it could be pretty fast. i would say its a good affordable buy. but truthfully, i personally hate the way the tiburons look. ESPECIALLY the older models. the new one isn't as bad. i mock my friend who has an older one. he loves the sharkmobiles. i don't know why.
good luck on your led search. don't make it too much like the G

Re: taillights
jezz..why does every one heve to be such ******. If he like it thats all that matters.
I don't know the answer to your question but they don't appear to be regular leds, they are oval. if you look closely at the lights they are set in a conical reflector which probably helps to reflect and intensify the light. obviously you should get the brightest ones you can find. I think anything over 5000mcd should be ok. get the widest viewing angle you can find too as you want them to be visible from the sides as well as straight on. to get the leds two stage dim for parking lights and bright for brake you could simply wire in resistors on the inputs so that when just the parking lights are on one resistor is feeding say 20ma to the led and when the brakes are applied the second resistor would be wired in parallel so that 40ma could be sent to the leds. To get the maximum brightness you can overdirve the leds, typically upto 50ma would be ok and you shouldn't hurt the lifespan of the leds too much, anything over that and you risk burning them out. I've bought leds from superbrightleds.com and they are pretty good quality for a reasonable price, the ones from radioshack are a rip off, too expensive for what you get. If you do find some leds and want some help in determining the correct resistor values shoot me a PM. good luck sounds like a fun project.

Re: taillights
Man, I'm ashamed at some of the members on this board. The guys just wants some tech info on the LED bulbs used in our taillights. A lot of members have this superiority complex just because our cars cost more than other peoples.
Anyways, I don't know what the specs are for our LEDs. Try some of the LED online retailers like superbrightleds.com

Re: taillights
just updating everyone that i recently got my LED's in and my resistors should be here thursday at the latest. i'll make sure and keep everyone posted. thanks for everyone who helped me out and to everyone else who didn't, thanks for trying! and to those who were *******s, no hard feelings! although i fell sorry for you because you guys be *******s for the rest of your lives.
should look something like this.... just nto sure if i wanna get regular 1157 LED bulbs for the turn signals or get more single LED's.

Re: taillights
Sorry that some of these guys are being rude. I think they thought you wanted to custom mold the G35 coupe taillights on to your tib. They just misunderstood your post.
I wish i could help you as well, but since none of us have really had to touch that aspect of our cars yet, the information about them is scarce. Call up an infiniti service department. They should be able to help you out.
BTW, nice tib. I actually like that car a lot for the money. Good luck finding the info. If you do find out, maybe you could post the info on the board so others will know it as well. Thanks.
