Octane booster

I live in the North Atlanta area and due to the gas shortage I've had some difficulty finding premium gas for my coupe. I have been able to find some but had to go out of my way to do so. Hopefully, this won't continue too much longer.

Anyway, my question is: Is it safe, or unwise, to fill my coupe with regular gas and use an octane booster to supplement the fuel? I'm not a fan of putting additives in my fuel (or oil), but I'm willing to for a tank or two.

PS - I'm new to the forums, so I was sure to do a search before posting! I've observed the consequences of not searching

Octane booster rarely boosts your octane a significant enough amount to matter; you usually have to had a LOT. However, if that's all you can do, then that'll have to do until you can get premium fuel.

Have you considered purchasing containers to store extra premium fuel in?

Another option is to mix in 100 octane racing fuel with the fuel you're putting in. Simple algebra to get the mixture right at 91

Thanks, Man. That's a good idea.

You just shush, Mr. Volume Sale " I deal with numbers all day". Thats just pure cruelty to those of us who are enough to have forgotten what we learned having never used it since but not old enough to have re-learned it by helping ( ) them (our kids) understand it.

If you mix 89 with 100 and you want 91, here's how you do it.

The difference between 91 and 100 is 9, and the difference between 89 and 91 is 2.

So you want 2 parts 100 per 9 parts 89 to get 91.

Another example.

If you mix 87 with 100 and you want 91, here's how you do it.

The difference between 91 and 100 is 9, and the difference between 87 and 91 is 4

So you want 4 parts 100 per 9 parts 89 to get 91.
