Re: Question About Xenon Bulbs
That's the major difference, D2R bulb is designed for reflector housing like G35s, it has a black strip which can be sand off to covert to D2S bulb.
Also the difference is the base, the D2S just can't fit into a D2R socket without cutting a notch on the other side.
I just don't understand why people want to drop D2S into the G35s, they just create too much unwanted glare on road.

Re: Question About Xenon Bulbs
A D2S will have about 13% greater output in terms of lumens. A philips 4100-4300 kelvin D2S puts out approx. 3200 lumens. A philips D2R puts out approx. 2800.
In terms of the glare, the people who have done it say that there is not an appreciable difference in glare.

Re: Question About Xenon Bulbs
It will have glare in some degree, not to the driver behind the wheel, but to the drivers in the opposite direction. Our car has refective housing, that's why Infiniti didn't use D2S in the first place. And that 13% greater output is coming outta the place where the black stripe is on the regular D2R bulb, it is there for a reason..
