G35 vs WRX

my friend has a wrx non-sti and claimes he will take my 6mt coupe all the way down the 1/4 mile. his mods are intake, exhaust, blow off valve and im pretty sure he's running factory boost- no mods to ecu. my g has z-tube k&n drop in filter and grounding wires thats it.... the race will be at island dragway in hackestown,nj on may 29th, any insight from anyone who has raced a rex?????

well.. i don't know... car and driver has the stock wrx at 14.1 through the 1/4 mile. what's your best? if he had his ecu tuned, he'd probably be touching pretty well into the 13's... 13.7 maybe? without the tuning, i don't know ....

Re: G35 vs WRX

id prolly be close, but id put my money on the G35. I had a wrx a few years ago, with an up-pipe down pipe, catback and boost controller....only ran a 13.6....intakes dont do anything on those cars, BOV's seriously only hurt the performance and to make a difference with the exhaust you have to have a down or up pipe

Soon to be black G35

Re: G35 vs WRX

well I have never raced legally on a track so I don't know my track time but I did go to atco for the 350z & G35 meet and saw two races against rex's. the rex's lost both times but who knows what the mods were on any of the cars. the average 1/4 mile time was like 14.5 for the pretty much stock g's so I really don't know what will happen?........ I'll take em from a 60mph roll though no doubt.

Re: G35 vs WRX

I had a 2003 wrx wagon while on a 7month waiting list for my 2004 g35c 6mt and for my 2 cents, the wrx can launch like a bat out of hell 0-60 and a little more but you red line so quickly and the 3rd and 5th gears are so tall the I can't see it keeping up with a g for long and they max out at a little over 140 (so I've heard ;<) and the g pulls strong for some where north of 155, Ive seen +or-158 in mine. but the driver makes a big diff, but at least you dont have to tell people who dont know about cars why you like yours so much like wrx owners.

Re: G35 vs WRX

I have a 6MT sedan and my brother has a non-STI WRX. The key factor for the scooby is boost lag, they dont do squat under 3000 rpm. I thought my bro's scooby ran out of breath at 5000 rpm too. In a drag race, I think it would depend a lot on how badly your friend is willing to treat his scooby. As pfc has posted they can launch like hell if made to. I think if your friend launched at 100% he would def. put ~2 car lengths on the G and it would take a good while to make it up...I think it would be very close in the quartermile. On the other hand, from a rolling start (roll on throttle in 1st gear at 1000rpm) the G35 would own and I doubt the scooby would ever catch up.
