5AT paddle shifters

Well I have been doing some research around the forum to see if there had been any progress for those of us who would like to get paddle shifters on are pre 07 g's, I think it has been done but I am still a bit lost on the whole issue. Anyone know for sure if it is now possible and how maybe one might go about getting them installed on lets say an 06 5At? Thanks, and sorry if this is a horribly newb post!

Zack at rarejdm did a mock up that included a plug and play control box and oem paddles. I have this set up and it's pretty cool.

The pricing is not as competitive vs the works bell kit but the placement of the actual paddles is better. Have not physically seen the works kit in person so I can't comment on the paddle feel themselves, the oem paddles have a solid feel how they are mounted vs bolted to the plastic housing.

The original thread got deleted somehow, it had some pics and videos of the paddles in action.

if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost associated and how long did it take?

Thanks for the tips, so wait are you saying that a works and bells paddle kit will work pre 07? Any pricing details about how much Zach's set up would be great as well. Too bad the original thread is gone.

The works kit does fit pre 07s, they have 2 kits I think 1 for aftermarket wheels and 1 for oem wheels. They are mounted a little low on both sides, comes with a template to screw into the plastic oem piece behind the steering wheel vs being bolted into place.

The works kit makes sense if you just want the ability to shift from the wheel. Personally I would rather pay more for the set up Zack did.

the paddles themselves are fairly easy to come by. the key component is the wiring harness\relay box to interface the paddles with the oem shifter.

someone built their own relay and posted schematics of how to build it...

What exactly is it that you prefer about Zach's set up? I want the ability to shift but I mostly use tiptronic so if Zach's are alot better I would like to know why.

works bell makes a number of kits. I have the previous gen kit which requires a replacement steering wheel. The new kit allows you to retain the stock steering wheel, and oh, the paddles are carbon fiber....

I had a look at the other thread about the Works kit, but it seems like there is some confusion about ordering the kit. Is there a solid site to order it from now?
