Chattery Wipers, Anyone??
Hey,
I posted about this a week or two ago. My driver-side wiper chatters and shudders as it sweeps across the windshield, every single time. I replaced the wiper blades (tried Bosch Micro Edge Excel and ANCO HydroClear), but the problem is still there. I took it in today and explained the problem to them thoroughly and told them that the wipers were still brand new. They said they would replace the wiper blades and that should fix it. So they told me my car was ready and I drove home and checked out the wipers and I looked at the blades and they replaced my brand-new ANCO HydroClear blades with brand-new ANCO HydroClear blades...WTF, how is that supposed to help. I know they did replace the blades though, because the pair I put on, one portion of the passenger-side blade has a little messed up, and these blades were flawless. So I called them up and they told me to come back in and I brought the printout of the FAQ for "Wiper Chatter" from the FreshAlloy.com forum. I showed it to the technician and he was like, "That's not a Nissan/Infiniti TSB" and he said I need to use the OEM wiper blades. So the attendant who you sit with and tell her your problem, she asked the tech why they use these ANCO blades if the car needs OEM blades and the tech basically had no idea why.
So the lady said she is gonna order the stock wiper blades for me and will give me a call when they come in. Does anybody have any other suggestions?? It seems like OEM wiper blades should do the trick, but am I the ONLY G35C driver who has this problem? The tech pretty much disregarded the FreshAlloy Wiper Chatter TSB so if these OEM blades don't work, I feel like I am SOL. I need wipers that actually work in the rain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,

You may want to clean your windshield throughly.......I had a mazda RX7 that did the same thing....I changed to a million different types of blades, but nothing worked....
My friend who at the time had a body shop, cleaned my windshield with some grease and wax remover and then polished the glass with his buffer.....I was so surprised to see how much residue came off the glass......
You may want to try using RAIN X, it definitely helps with the water shedding off the windows.......
Anyway...clean the sh=t out of your glass...this may help.....

Thanks for the advice, I did consider that. I don't use any polishes or anything on the glass and I often (once or twice a week) clean it with Stoner Invisible Glass, aside from my weekly car washes. My glass should be quite clean, unless somebody can suggest a better auto glass cleaner.

Check your other post....I put up the official Infiniti TSB link for you. Infiniti replaced my wipers once....fixed the problem for about a month, then came back. Waxing, alcohol, RainX....none will work!!! I Tried everything!

Re: Chattery Wipers, Anyone??
I don't know if anybody cares, but the new wipers came in today and the dealership installed them for me. I went home and tried them out by using the windshield washer and the shuttering was there just a little bit, but no annoying chatters or rattles. So I will wait until I get to drive in the rain a couple of times before I make a conclusion on whether this is the final solution to the chattery/shuddery wipers or not.
Either way, Park Ave Infiniti really went out of their way to try to fix the problem, and fix it quickly. First they installed a new free pair of ANCO HydroClear blades (what they stock) and when that still didn't work, they ordered the Infiniti OEM blades for me and installed those ones for free (wipers were free, too).
If you live in the NJ/NYC area and you are looking for a really good dealership to service your Coupe, checkout Park Ave Infiniti in Englewood, NJ. I always take my Coupe there and they have always been great with prices as well as quality of service, and the whole staff is very friendly.

Re: Chattery Wipers, Anyone??
well it was raining today and i got to test out the wiper blades for my 05 for the first time... chattery as hell... i did apply rainx to it a week ago so I dunno... I think i'm gonna have to clean the windshield thoroughly... anyone have any suggestions on cleaning it and to get rainx off? The chattering went away for a few minutes here and there but it was really annoying... its brand new so would it need to be broken in somehow? it seems there's a lot of wiper problems for this car...

Re: Chattery Wipers, Anyone??
No, they don't all chatter. I had the TSB done on my Coupe (basically replace the wiper motors) and most of the chattering is eliminated. Driver-side wiper still wiggles at the lower left half and on random wipes it is crappy, but at least the car is drivable in rain. It's just kinda pathetic that out of all the stuff on this car that can go wrong, the supid wipers are messed up and the problem isn't even 100% fixed after dealing with Infiniti Consumer Affairs.

Re: Chattery Wipers, Anyone??
I had my original blades replaced at my dealer about 3 months ago.....My original blades never gave me any problems. After about a week or so, when we had our first heavy rain, I noticed the new blades were shuttering and chattering all across my windshield. The drivers side was the worst. I took it back to the dealer and they told me the windshield had a build up on it, and that was what was causing the problem...
I cleaned the windshield with lacquer thinners, and then polished the crap out of the windshield with glass cleaner.....A week later after a good rain the wipers started chattering again...so I was really pissed......I wish I had never changed the originals....
Anyways, after a few times of the annoying chattering the blades have seemed to settle in and only once in a while I get the chattering....I think I will try another brand next time around.....
