Question ztube- Cone or Rectangle ?

I was looking at DIY ztube install and i noticed on this DIY thread on 6mt.

http://www.6mt.net/mod-g35-350z-intake.php

he left the stock airbox/filter in ?

on others i have seen, guys take it out and just install the ztube with a new cone shapped filter.

what would be better ?

Stock airbox/rectangle filter

or

Ztube and after market cone filter ?

pop charger is the cone filter.. the square filter is just a dropin filter for the stock airbox.. the stock airbox has the best power gains for our cars so I would recommend getting an amsoil dryflow filter and a ztube

IS THAT WTF a POP CHARGER IS WTF !?!?!? i thougth it was like some totally differnt part inside the tube , so more gains with stock box, then why dont we get the same gains as the stock tube ?

if you replace your intake you are pretty much bound to lose power nomatter what change you do. we make power with teh stock tube, the ztube just removes the resonators on the stock tube making a meaner growl under WOT (wide open throttle).. so if you want to keep it quiet and powerful dont change a thing.. amsoil dryflow filters have greater air flow than the stock one though

I installed the z-tube w/ JWT pop charger in mine ($170). I installed the z-tube with normal air box in my friend's G ($30 - He bought it from a 350z). Both are 04' and truthfully I don't really see much or any difference in power. The only thing is JWT pop charger is louder (noticeable) and makes a cool hissing sound when driving. Kinda sounds like a turbo sucking in w/o the blow off valve. Stock box is still great, because it still shielded from the engine heat. Win win situation. : )

POP CHARGER- Louder

Choices....some are better than others!

I prefer the Stillen CAI/Z-Tube combination since you don't have issues with
heat soak, and it sounds as good as the pop charger....no downside! Remember heat kills HP!!

^ i would personally either stay stock airbox or stillen. The JWT popcharger has a very poor heatshield and all CAI besides the stillen seem to lose power. I am running the AEM cold air intake and am too lazy to swap back the stock one. It sounds cool, but I don't think I gain any power, and probably lose a couple

Well i thougth about it and im going with Ztube intake with the Stocker airbox, is that a good combo, bc itll shield from the heat , at little, ill invest into a CAI later , but cant i do this ,. take out my Stock tube on the G , cut off the resinators and seal them up, just making a tube ?

^ i wouldn't.. the resonators are a major part of the tube, if you cut them off there won't be much left.. and you definitely will not be able to go back to stock. I'd worry a piece might brake off and get lodged in my engine and that's not good

I currently have stock airbox with the velocity ring fitted with the kn filter and a z tube. Very tamed daily driving but a different beast at WOT.

lets just put it this way, you will never feel the difference whether you lose or gain power in an intake, it's so small any difference you "feel" is just in your head!
