new to the infiniti scene....

i just recently bought a 05 g35 coupe. ive always been a muscle car kinda guy so this is a whole new world to me. what are some typical first bolt on mods that u guys do? name brands would be appreciated too seeing there is alot more out there than compared to american cars. i should probably note that the car is an automatic. (i couldnt turn down the offer otherwise i would of kept searchin for a 6spd. bought it for 19 and it only had 20k mi on it.) it's bone stock, all ive done so far is fix the infamous axle clicking in the rear axle. I'm just looking for more power and eventually i want to do the suspension.

well first i would get clear corners,
then
ztube/stillen intake box you can also get this from riverside infiniti i think they are a great place to buy from and have good prices
motordyne spacer(search for that and should come up with a lot of good info)
the spacer is going to be your best bang for buck (https://g35driver.com/forums/search....archid=6127060)
rims and a drop
test pipes or hfc
i personally like the hks exhaust also
Thats a good start! And welcome!

you my friend will regret auto... 6sp ftw!! as far as mods go.. u can start with clear corners / intake if u want a slow progression like we all did (i did at least) but the best bang for the buck by far is the plenum spacer or an aftermarket plenum *crawford* then high flow cats exhaust u dont get any hp off.. maybe 1 to the crank.. just looks and nicers and sounds... well diff. * i love the stock note so i just put hfc and a ypipe to amplify the sound*

welcome tho ur gonna miss muscle cars cuz this car is SLOW off the line.

The best way to gain power is turbo or supercharge it, but I'm guessing you don't have the money for that.

First, put on clear corners. (These are simply white lenses that replace the orange ones right in front of your front wheels.)

Then, look around at what kind of intake you want to get. Z-tube is very common, it's the stock intake tube off a 350Z, and just has some things removed to make your engine a little louder. JWT(Jim Wolf Technology) Pop-charger is a cone style intake that you just attach to the Z-tube, and will give you the effect of sucking in air, kinda like a turbo'd car.

With intakes, the sound should be more important than the power. Look up intakes for the G35 on youtube so you can see what sounds like what.

Then get a Motordyne spacer, which just increases the airflow to your engine.

After that, you'll probably know enough about the car that you'll know what you wanna do next.

Acronym key:
CAI- Cold Air Intake
FI- When talking about exhaust, Fast Intentions, when talking about a big mod, it means Forced induction, which is turbo or supercharged.
HFC- High Flow Cats, a piece of the exhaust
OB, TB, LP, SS G35- All names of the colors, Obsidan black, Twilight bluem Liquid platinum, Serngeti Sand, and there are more than that.

Good luck bro, welcome to driver

welcome, what color G did you get?

adding to acronym stuff:

-More colors: IP (ivory pearl) , LR (laser red)
-People will also abbreviate motordyne as "MD"...
-This is probably obvious to you but TT=twin turbo, ST=single turbo, SC=supercharged
-HKS is just another company that makes aftermarket stuff (exhaust, SC kit, etc)

thanks for the help guys, i'm definatly gonna pick up a spacer and an intake. i'm guessing the motordyne spacer and the pop charger intake are both good choices since alot of people seem to have them. as for the clear corners.. i already blacked them and the grille out and tinted the windows. my car is precision gray. ill get those pics up soon, its been raining for a week now and that makes it kinda tough. also, does anyone know if a stock 08 350z strut tower brace will fit on an 05 g35? i work at a nissan dealership and they have an extra one laying around and i get parts really cheap there so it would be conveniant.

Welcome. I too came from domestics. I had a 2002 sunset orange Z28 6-spd before this, and prior to that I had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with a cam and a bunch of other stuff done.

Power wise, I miss the hell out of my LS1. BUT - this car is night and day better to drive all around when it comes down to it. There are a few NA mods that will offer good bang for the buck like people mentioned, like a lower plenum and plenum spacer etc. If you are looking for the power you are used to, this really isn't the car... unless you plan on investing in boost.

I absolutely love my G though. Good luck, and enjoy it. Post up pics of your G and your other cars when you get a chance.

eventually i'm going to invest in either a turbo or sc. not sure which route i'm going to go. times are rough as it is with the economy and having car payments and rent etc.... so i probably wont see any boost in my car for a long time. i still have an 87 mustang with work done to it. its faster than my g but u could never compare the two cars.. like u said, night and day... i like having a daily driver with giddyup that doesnt make me go deaf, numb from exhaust vibrations, and leave me smelling like exhaust. hell, i could always sell the mustang and find a used turbo or sc....
