Just ordered some toys for my G

Well, Ill be joining the Z-Tube/Pop Charger crowd as soon as they arrive. Also on its way is my UR pulley set (silver) and my Nismo sway bar set. Already have a saturday put aside to take care of all of it, I just cant wait to see how the G's gonna feel. Next up: new bumper/spoiler, full exhaust (fujitsubo & crawford components) and the crawford plenum. Lookin at Mid July to be done with my bolt ons. Anyone have experience with the UR pulley set? Just curious if I'm better off leavin that install to a professional.

EX,

First, congrats! Second, don't do the pulley upgrade! Have you seen the LOOONNGG thread here about what it does to your crank bearings? Search it. Infiniti Tech's and some Physicists who own G's researched this and the conclusion was, for the small amount of CLAIMED ponies (5% increase), it wasn't worth a new engine.

2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!

Re: Just ordered some toys for my G

I've heard about that multiple times, had a very very long converstation with a family friend who owns his own shop. This does hold true that under driving your crank, alt, and water pump can lead to charging, cooling and bearing issues later down the road, however, this is only true based on driving habit. I rarley take my G over 3500 rpms, and when I do, its usually in 4th and 5th gear. The pulleys will only damage your motor if you going to the track or beating on your car constantly, and the younger crowd (no offense to z owners, as I am also 20) with the 350z's seem to be having issues with these things left and right. Then again, these are the same people racing the **** outta their cars, so hopefully, responsibility will prevail in this one. From what I've been lead to understand so far, underdriving is only bad for prolonged, high stress applications, such as a car that would be used to AutoX or drag constantly, neither of which my G will be doing.....ever.

If you rarely go ober 3500 rpm's, why all the mods? Your cars STOCK already runs optimally for your driving conditions.

Just a question...

"Lookin at Mid July to be done with my bolt ons."

You will never be done, it is like a plague that consumes you!

I think Zimbo summed it up. "Always one mod away from completion" or something like that.

Re: Just ordered some toys for my G

Because I can never leave anything alone....I've never owned a car and left it stock. I dont drive that fast because I enjoy my license. For the times that I do open the G up, its there, but not as much as I'd like it to be. I would figure, the extra hp out of all this should be enough to keep me happy, and as you said, always one mod away, the JWT flywheel/clutch package caught my eye today....so hehe. I do enjoy going to the track, about 1 time per year, sometimes maybe two, so far, I haven't wanted to go yet, and the main reason for modding is that. 14's are nice, but my goal is a low 13 second daily driver, I'd hope for 12's but thats unrealistic with just bolt on's with this car. Its more for the "bragging rights" than the actual use of it to be honest. All I can say is, if there ever came a time in the next few years where affording another car I would actually enjoy using as a daily driver came along, I would love to do something excessive to the G. I've been debating the JWT TT setup since I saw it, and I think that will be my xmas present to myself this year, but sometimes, when I drive a little spirited and hit 80 a little too fast, I seriously reconsider.
