Black coupe paint issues

Hey ive been on the forums here for about 6 months, recently got home from Afghanistan, and purchased an 07 g35 6MT Coupe, with 10k miles. Anyways I bought it from a dealer, checked out the carfax, and it was clean, no noticeable damage or previous wrecks. so I purchased the vehicle in Florida where my parents live and drove it back to where I live here in DC, about 900 mile drive. Upon arriving here in DC I wanted to re-detail the outside due to the bugs and dirt on the highway. as im washing the front bumper I notice about 40 (not egsadurating) paint chips, chipped down to white primer, also some minor scratches on the hood. anyways my question being: im under the impression that the car has had front end damage, maybe not sever, but I have a feeling that front bumper has been replaced/resprayed with a low quality paint/clear coat. Do you guys have any opinions? And do you have the same problems with chipping paint?

Thanks Steve -

pictures would be nice. The paint on our cars are really soft so with a long drive like yours + the salt on the roads/ rocks... the bumper may not have been resprayed. You might want to invest in a clear bra ($700) or a regular bra for your car for long trips. I have a black hood bra if ure interested (20+ shipping). pm me

Infiniti clear is weak. They need to step up.

Your car may not have been necessarily re-placed/Re-painted as he said^^

But chips will occur regardless. (Highway driving)
Good Luck with your OB. I can't give you too much though, I need some luck for mine. lolss

I think that you shouldn't even bother with the touch-up.. It will make it look sloppy. And plus you said you had over 40? Eh.. just wait and re-paint the whole thing.

I'm picking my 2005 Black coupe up in Mass. on saturday.(Which is 115 miles from where I live.) Do you guys think it would be a good idea to invest in some sort of bra just for the ride back?

Tmorg, I dont think so. you should be fine.

It's not the paint that's weak, it's the clearcoat.

Blue masking tape, found in any hardware store. May not look great while
you're driving but when you get home you'll be glad you did....

That's a good idea. I got a bunch of masking tape laying around somewhere. I'm so excited to finally get one.
