I'm about to purchase a used 2006-2007 g35 coupe and have heard about the tire wear issue and was wondering how severe it really is.

For you guys on average how many miles do you go before having to change tires? Is this issue as extreme as some reviews I've seen claim?:

"Horrified by the poor tire wear! At 19,000 miles, my tires were completely bald. Infiniti says they normally replace them around 12-15K! Now I am at 24K, and the front insides are torn up and need to be replaced. That's right... only 5,000 miles on the tires. Said it was the alignment. I will be looking to trade this car in within the year. I can't afford to replaces tires twice a year, especially at the price our tires are!"

How long do people expect tires to last with fked up alignment?

 

15000 miles now and still no bad tire wear.. got about 80 percent life

 

16k, OEM 19's inner wear was down to no tread. Rears were close to no tread. This was from orig owner when I purchased it used. Running Falken FK452's now which have a much longer treadlife rating and time will tell. Treadlife ratings aren't always acurate when comparing different manufactures but I know the RE050's are fairly soft.

 

Don't hold your breath on the FK452's. i just replaced my rears at 13K. Normal daily driving. 275/30/20's...

 

Mine lasted over 30k... Now 15k on my new set and the tires are wearing out pretty much evenly

 

i would suggest going with a different tire manufacturer. bridgestones are not known for their "great" tire wear. try and find a tire with a treadwear rating of at least 300. the higher the number the longer it "should" last, provided you dont race on it at a track or punish the holy crap out of it! lower the number the more "grip" you should get out of the tire but at the cost of lower tread life.

 

Tire wear is crappy because people are stupid enough to not get their cars aligned properly and don't realize the a 300-hp car goes through tires faster than a 100 hp car when you race it all the time.

Treadwear should be fine as long as you get some quality tires after the OEM's run out.

I bought my 07 coupe new, with sports suspension. The car is never raced or abused. I have 10k on the original Bridgestones and won't get much more out of them. The car was aligned at 6k miles. I'm disappointed with the current tires and will get a different brand soon.
I have Bridgestones on my 4Runner and they are doing great after 24k.

 

2006 g35 wtih 14kmiles on it still got about 80% left....havent swap out tires yet

 

Tire wear is all about your own driving habits and alignment.

 

I ran my oem bridgestones for 35k. I could've squeezed out another 5-8k if it weren't for the alignment. I'm currently at 52k miles using General Exclaim Tires and i have about 70% tread life. You got to get it alignment every 6 months.

 

driving habits, tire pressure, alignment, are you lowered or not...all these factors play into it. so your question is a complicated one that will be different for everyone.

i'm at 22k miles on stock suspension with proper pressure (don't think i need an alignment) and never done a burnout = rears where just replaced about 3 months ago and fronts are getting noticeably worn and will need replacing next year.

 

Mike's correct but there's other factors involved, tires rated at 240 will give
you 30K miles of wear. Any higher and they get funky in wet weather. Always
inflate your tires at the recommended pressure....35 to 37 PSI. If you notice
steering wheel vibration have the balance checked, not uncommon to lose
a weight. No matter how you're car is lowered you need the suspension
adjust ability pieces to bring it back to OEM specs. I'm doing front a-arms
soon and going back to Michelin's in the spring, can't stand the noise!!
