Is an aftermarket In Cabin Air Filter (charcoal) any different than OEM?

I just received an In Cabin Air Filter (charcoal) that i was told was OEM. I open the box, its not OEM. Its an aftermarket version.

So my question before i deal with return etc...

how different will an aftermarket version of an In Cabin Air filter be from an OEM part?

thanks

should be fine. How can you tell it's aftermarket?

Its aftermarket because it comes in a blank white box, with 'NPN (part number) Made in China' (and i'm pretty sure Nissan is Japanese...)

That, and the filter has no writing on it besides 'this side up'

the OEM filter comes in a standard grey Nissan Box, and says 'nissan' on the side of the actual filter, and comes with a sticker with japanese writing on it to tell you when to replace it again (like the oil change sticker they put in your windshield).

You can see the OEM version here:

Anyone else have an opinion on using an aftermarket filter?

Thanks!

Charcoal is supposed to be better than OEM because it catches/hides smells too, rather than just filtering large contaminants from the air. I've never tried one personally, I'm just passing along what information I have read about them.
