To be safe you'd want to do a build. No matter how much tuning is done, a stock VQ motor is bound to blow up sooner or later.

i did that,. and came upon reading mostly opinions,..kinda equally spread out..ya kno,... i was just wanting to ask someone thats maybe done a similar upgrade,. and what they think.Originally Posted by Hi-Tech_G

i just heard these motors are built pretty solid, and parts like solid lifters, shims, guides ext...wouldnt really be needed.
now based on my past experiences with boosted motors...thats a BAD idea to run on stock internals. ( unless, boosted from the factory..lol )
that y i ask

The stock VQ motor can run boost safely up to 400WHP. Anything over that is pushing it. The rods are weak for just doing FI. There are a lot of pros and cons but the questions like with any other FI'd vehicle that you would want to ask your self is 1.do you have the time to fix your ride is something mucks up?...2.do you have the money to replace parts should something muck up on the car. The pros and concs even out but in the end the choise is mainly yoiurs

PICS ASAP!
I'm rather new to these motors aswell, but a couple buddies of mine that have boosted V35's are running on stock internals with around 350 to the wheels. Aslong as you stay around there with a rather conservative psi of boost, you'll be fine as far as a daily driver.

If that 240 is really your and have one works with your bare hands. I don't think you should ask questions like this (power) in here. Just doesn't smell right to me. As a member mentioned, go FI room. All of your answers are in there and you will be understand everything since that you had built the 240 before. Still, somehow it doesn't smell right.

im not familiar with this forum,..im srry if i posted in the wrong place....?
i didnt know there was a forced induction thread
i just figured putting a aftermarket turbokit on a car, would require a little more internal work,.. but a local performance shop told me i'd be o.k.....THAT didnt "smell" right.
