6MT Coupe Safest Winter Rim/Tire Option

After searching and reading hundreds of posts I cannot find a distinct answer...

I am getting a new 6MT, and coming from a 2001 vette i know the winter fun these types of cars create. I dont care about looks I just want the best safety option for the winter. I have seen 17" ASA K3's w/various winter tires. Is there a cheaper rim alternative i can throw good 17" tires on (steel rims?) for the winter that fits the 6mt coupe (brembos)? Do the 17" K3s fit over the brembos? Do any cheap steel rims fit over them? Is 17" the lowest I can go? What is the SAFEST rim/tire package i can get? (steel/cheap rims preferablly)

Cheapest and safest wheels to clear the brembos are the Sport Edition Fox 5 at $139 a pop. Then you would need winter tires. I only have experience with Blizzaks which are really safe. Call tirerack.

Have that same package with Pirelli 210's (Blizzaks were sold out at the time) for sale. Pack is in the Parts For Sale section
