Wrecked the G today -- Questions
Had an idiot pull out in front of me today in a van and I creamed the pass side door just in front of his rear tire. G's beat up pretty good. Got the Hood, Right fender, Front bumper, Right front rim, and deployed both airbags. Thats just the stuff that I can visually see, im sure it got someother things behind the front bumper assembly as well. Im good but my baby is hurting.. I've talked to a few people and what I've been told is that she's prob going to be totaled by the insurance mostly due to both of the air bags being deployed. I've only had her 6 months.... 6 MONTHS
Car is a Black 05 coupe 6-speed with Brembos and only has 34,000 miles.. Any of you guys got an Idea if im going to loose her and have to look for another?
Thanks in advance,

What insurance company is paying? That makes a big difference. Your car retails for $22,825 Some insurance companys total cars when it will cost them %50 to fix and some go to %85. All the little things add up! When they come from Infiniti

Kinda hard to tell w/o the pictures. Does sound pretty bad, but like Freak said; some ins total at 50% cost of damage and some up to 80%. If you are able to see the body frame bent then I'd say its total. Sucks but at least you're ok.
Thats what I was affraid of.. Honestly Looking at the front of the car it mostly looks cosmetic but what concerns me is that both of the airbags went off. My uncle is a Highway Patrolman here in NC and he told me was telling me that 90% of the time when the airbags are deployed the car will be totaled bc there is going to be more damage to the car than can be seen.
Honestly Im just not wanting to deal with this ****. Plus I know i'll be driving some crappy *** rental car for a few weeks to...
But I will have to give props to the G. I've had some pretty hard hits before in the racecar and I know it differant hitting another car going 40 mph and hitting a concrete wall doing 140 but the car absorbed 90% of the impact. Air bags just got me pretty good and im a little bruised from the seatbelt but I was very suprised at how well the car took the impact.
+100 for Infiniti
BTW im with Nationwide Insurance

honestly would u rather have the car totalled and get a new one or have a car thats was near totalled fixed? Just look at the glass half full, your ok and didnt get hurt and now u can get a new whip and get a rental to beat the **** out of
Here's what happened to me with my 05 6MT with exhaust, intake, aftermarket bumber and wheels. I had 50K miles when I wrecked and picked up the car for $19K with everything mentioned. My car was hit on the passenger side (airbags deployed) and the insurance company (Geico) gave me $27K for it. The adjuster hooked me up and even though I had aftermarket wheels that cost about $1600 he put down as having factory 19" wheels which added almost $4000 to the value of the car. According to them OEM is more expensive so it worked to my benefit. He also gave me the option to remove the exhaust if I wanted but I would need to put the factory exhaust back which I didn't have cause I bought it that way.
If they do totol it make sure they give you credit for everything (Bose, Leather...)
GOOD LUCK

Finally two days after the accident the insurance calls and says they have set me up with a rental car.. I get down to Enterprise to pick it up... Its a damn Kia Spectra... Are you kidding me.. I guess im going to have to get a lawyer involved to get things rolling and to make sure I dont get screwed over.
Dude, the rental depends on what your limit is on your insurance policy, you can upgrade but it will come out of your pocket. If it makes you feel any better they also put me in a Spectra
When I totalled my last car they gave me a fwd jeep, then I talked them into giving me a v8 4-door Tundra. You just have to know how to talk to the rental co.
Like someone else said, you should hope that its totalled so you can get a new ride...I'd much rather a used vehicle with no accidents vs my vehicle near totalled and brought back to life. (I got the G due to totalling my rsx)

Yeah I agree if its not just cosmetic damage then I want to car to be totaled off.
And After fighting with the insurance co to get my a better car I have an Altima. Dosent compare to the G but its the best car they had at there location.
Im satisfied... For now. Still waiting to hear back about the car though..

UPDATE
So I just got off the phone with the adjuster and its still not known if they are going to total my car. They are going to have it towed 1.5hrs away to the body shop of my choice ( Infiniti Dealership in Raleigh ) and have them disassemble the car to see if it needs to be totalled.
My questions is if for some reason they decide not to total my car and I am able to order differant a front bumper what should I go with. I have already decided on the 06 headlights. I'd prefer to have something with a clean look thats something tasteful and not an over done body kit.

They will cut you a check for ONLY the amount it will take to return it to stock (or the way is was before it was hit), YOU can do anything with the money, just as long as you fix the car.
