RevUP Coupe owners need your input..

I am looking at purchasing a G coupe and want to get a 05-07 because of the better torque band and interior. From what I've read, Nissan addressed most issues except for the oil consumption problem that is common in these years.

Now I'm having second thoughts. I come from a long history of Nissans and Hondas, all of which have been driven to 200k+ miles without any major engine issues. So in other words, I am not willing to give up reliability, otherwise I would go for a used M3. I don't want to spend money on a car knowing that the engine is doomed and needs to be swapped off that bat, and who knows if the car will be the same after a swap?

So in short, I want to get some input from those of you that have the 05-07 revup engine and if you have had any problems with OC, needed to swap etc and if not, what should I be looking for before purchasing one?

i have an 05 6MT rev-up and have had no oil premblems what so ever... 44k miles and still running great...

If it was a commen problem for the rev-ups to have the OC problem... Infiniti would have a major recall on the engines... yes it can happen but its not every rev-up like most make it seem to be

I doubt you'll be able to tell the motor has oc issues until you've driven it around for about a month or so. It's not like you can just pull out the dip stick and see how much oil is in the motor...

Isn't that what the dipstick is for? Haha.. I got your point. I haven't yet heard from someone that has actually done the swap.. Anyone else?

Why would it change anything? It's the same engine, just with fixed seals or something. I don't know why you would complain if you get a new engine for free.

Hmm, do the dipsticks on the G35 actually work? I know on the VQ30DE, they were essentially useless..

'07 6mt coupe, 12,000+ miles, no oil consumption. Maybe 1/4 qt. between oil changes. During initial break in you will burn the most-around 1/2 to 1 qt. I think the problem causing OC is people redlining the engine before break-in period is complete (1250 mi.) I mean the dealer I bought from told me there is no break-in period it is pre-broken in. What a uninformed queef. But I didnt listen to anything he tried to pitch me, I knew more about this car than the salesguy. After a while he just shut up and helped w/ paperwork. RESEARCH x3...

That's an inside joke for all G owners... that is what the dipstick is for, but ours is not exactly user friendly... you can't read it without a damp cloth, and even if you can see the line, it's not accurate.
