Re: Car Wash ??

Hey! As a female G35 Coupe owner I find this very upsetting. Not because of the knocker references, but at Tim's cluelessness!

Right on! I'm starting to think he wouldn't recognize a pair of headlights if his face was smashed between them....

Re: Car Wash ??

Word of warning!

Touchless car washes may be ok (like it was said... better to get the bird crap off fast!) but you have to look out for the wheel pressure plate that you drive through when going into these things. There are some new touchless carwashes that have rails that guide your tire to the pressure pad. THEY SCRATCH OUR RIMS! My business partner and I have Gs and he went through one with the rails -- scratched his rim. He was CHOKED!

So... before you enter the car wash, scope it out to make sure your rim will be OK.

Re: Car Wash ??

Since I'm in Chicago, "hand washing" is not an option for about 5 out of the 12 months. So a car wash is the only way to keep it clean during the cold months. I was wondering about the damage to the rims due to the car wash "railings" that guide your car through the car wash. I'm going to have to research and/or take my chances, because as I type this my car is only 3 days old but dirty as hell (courtesy of the all the gravel and salt they dump on the road) and I am getting it washed in about 2 hours. I know most touchless washes don't have "railings", they just have an area for your front left wheel to go into. I really like my local car wash however, so I may ask the owner if he thinks my car is "safe" going thru his carwash. We'll see what happens.

Re: Car Wash ??

Automatic car washes are an accident waiting to happen. I definately ruined the driver side wheels on an Acura (not my G35C, know better now) after first asking the attendent, "look at my wheels, will your equipment damage them?"
Over the years, I've had more damage done to cars at car washes, than by just driving. Occasionally I give in and get an automatic wash when i don't have time, and that re-aligns my thinking for the next several years.
